Stupid RadiatorWischmaster 03-05-2005, 01:39 AM Wow, all I've had is problems ever since my front-end got yanked. Well, today when I was driving around... I was hearing some odd banging noises everytime I hit a bigger bump. Well, I was just 'rounding the corner to my GF's house and I heard a *grunkkkkkk* and a little thud. Well, after I parked... I looked at the street and there was a trail of neon green fluid. :loser: Well, I walked to the front on my car and looked near the curb and saw a river of coolent flowing down the street. I got down on the ground and saw that my damn radiator was laying on the ground basically. Upon further inspection... I found that in that short distance of dragging... it wore two little holes in the bottom of it about as big as this O. Maybe alittle bigger. Well, when I tried to add coolent in... it flowed like the Nile. So now my car sits over to her house and I can't move it. Well, I could... but I have no coolent so it would possibly overheat and/or the radiator would drag all the way after I hit a bump. So... off to the junkyard tomorrow to look for a new one. :banghead: :crying: :crying: This car has only been a headache, I swear. :iceslolan 95dxcivic 03-05-2005, 02:17 AM i hear ya, my car leaks the water all the time, i fill it up everymorning, i have been trying to get some money together to fix it but i guess i prefer just filling up every morning caniborrow50cnts 03-05-2005, 10:07 AM kinda funny though isn't it...yea i didnt think so either. How did it end up dragging? There are two little short bars that it is supposed to sit on. A new radiator is going to cost you $100-175, but a junk yard one might run you $40-50 if your lucky. I bet you have one of those crappy plastic radiators too. You definately don't want those to overheat or they will start to look like the San Andreas fault. Wischmaster 03-05-2005, 01:08 PM How did it end up dragging? There are two little short bars that it is supposed to sit on. As I said, my front end is fucked until I can get a new radiator support. (Radiator .... support.... eh) I have to drive it because it is my only car at the moment and it's been a project that has held together with zipties of all things. Without the bumper on it... my front end looks like this: http://www.geocities.com/hpowercivic/Hatch_2.jpg Looks to be that I'm missing those two supports. I have no idea how it stayed in there for so long... but I don't know why it fell all of a sudden either. Wischmaster 03-05-2005, 05:44 PM Just took some pictures today to give you all alittle light of what I'm talking about with my whole radiator thing. http://www.geocities.com/hpowercivic/Radiator1.jpg What I saw when I opened the hood... http://www.geocities.com/hpowercivic/Radiator3.jpg Looks like I'm missing the big tab that goes over the top... http://www.geocities.com/hpowercivic/Radiator4.jpg And what I saw when I looked under the car. Would explain why there is a worn hole in the bottom. http://www.geocities.com/hpowercivic/Radiator5.jpg I think there is some sort of bolt on the bottom that came off... or whatever goes in the little circle outcropping at the bottom of the radiator support. Hmm, it seems I gotta go to a junkyard or something and rip off the mounting tab for the radiator and the overflow bottle (missing that too) and get whatever that is that goes at the bottom. Peace. Wischmaster 03-05-2005, 05:50 PM Forgot one. We tried to patch the hole so I could at least get it back to my house... but DT doesn't stick too well. (you can see the leaking coolent) http://www.geocities.com/hpowercivic/Radiator2.jpg CivRacer95 03-05-2005, 06:34 PM Dat iz strayt hood nugga! Keep it gangsta :icon16: .
