What gas mileage can I expect to get from an e34 530i with over 100k miles? For those of you who own one, are you satisfied with it? Thanks.
Oh yeah, I am aware of the Nikasil problem in these engines. I am assuming I would get one with the alusil. What percentage of used 530i's still have the Nikasil?

Sorry, my car's an E28, but I'll post fuel mileage anyway, to get this thread rolling. Real, live mileage figures from people who drive the hell out of these cars is hard to come by.
My car has 207,000 miles. I average 20 mpg burning 91 octane fuel.
On long highway trips, I can get 25 mpg if I keep it under 80 mph. My girlfriend actually got 28 mpg on a long, flat stretch, using the cruise control and not dogging it out like I do.
Now, someone else post miles-per-gallon results!

C'mon, somebody tell us how much gas your V8 guzzles! If the V8 gets better mileage, I'll ditch my 535 and get one!

I have a 97 528i. Sometimes I get as low as 18mpg, all city driving. I try to get a few highway miles in per tank. That brings it up to 20. Haven't taken it on a long trip yet, so no idea on all highway miles.

I average, long term, (>20000 miles) 21.3.
Steady 73 mph gets 24-24.6 MPG

The V8 E34s get awful mileage. I get about 12mph in the city and peak at about 21mph on the highway. Only spend the money to upgrade an E34 M5.

I don't know about the M20 & M50 cars but my M60 540i just made a 2000 mile trip from NC to New Orleans and back over a 3 day period. Me, my wife, my daughter, her dog and a trunk stuffed full. According to the OBC, our average MPH was better than 73 MPH and we ran at 85 MPH through Atlanta and on long stretches of I-65, I-85 & I-10. Avg fuel economy was 23.3 mpg for the trip, including in-city driving. I only run Shell premium in it. 135000 miles, Alusil block, no modifications except a K&N air filter.

I have an 89 525i 6 cyl with 243,000 on it, and drive back and forth from Madison, WI to Cedar Rapids, IA every weekend. At 73-75 mph I can get 25-27 mpg...
