Ive been looking for a tt supra for a while but so far i have only found n/a ones that are in my price range (i plan to pay around $5k for the car its self and mod it over time ) and I was wondering what it would take to get one of these 87'-89' supras into at least the 13's. And how much roughly would it cost if i had to turbo it if i could do all the work myself?
Thanks

5 large should pick you up a pretty decent turbo mk3 (86.5 - 92) supra..
If your lookin for a project car to mod out, hold out til you find a turbo supra.. the n/a isnt a very good platform and will cost a lot to get to 13's

Thanks, i looked a bit harder and found a 90' tt supra with about 100k miles for about $3k. About how much would this one cost to get into the 12's-13's?
Also i heard that the supra engine was one of the most unreliable engines that toyota made, is this true?

...how did you find a mk4 for 3k. it must be wrecked or something. and whoever told you a 2jz is unreliable should be kick square in the scrotum.

He said 90 TT, 1990 would be an MKIII not an MKIV. Either way if it's really TT it probably has a 1jz swap or a few other options and there is no way someone would sell one for 3K. The swap alone costs much more than that. Got a link to it because I couldn't find any TT MKIII's on autotrader, this has scam written all over it.

You confused us by saying TT. mk3 supras are SINGLE turbo. Not twin turbo as TT refers to.

Close, the MA70 is a single turbo, but both the GA70 (1g-g) and JZA70 (1jz) are twin turbo and swaps are done alot these days. Since that one has been removed I am convinced it was a scam, or atleast a big typo.

I come across this problem alot. It seems alot of ricers have been getting into the supra scene and giving us all a bad name. "Us" however refers to the real car guys how work on their cars. But any ways back to the original question. I would suggest the MKIII 7MGTE for a good platform. You can easily get them into the 12 second range with about 3-4 thousand invested maybe less? But I would love to see someone really racing these cars. SOLO II all the way baby , there is nothing like running a MKIII on the street track.
