Interior vent paintingPatryk10 03-03-2005, 09:47 PM I have a civic 92 and I want to paint my int. vents blue but i can't get two out. One on the passenger site and the top middle dash one. Anyone have intructions on how to get them out? (best if you private msg me, if u kno how) Ace$nyper 03-04-2005, 12:13 AM they arn't coming out cause they don't wanta be painted CivicSpoon 03-04-2005, 01:15 AM  I PM'd ya a link. GScivic7 03-04-2005, 02:05 AM they arn't coming out cause they don't wanta be painted judging by the pic in his av, I'm not surprised those vents don't want to be painted. eckoman_pdx 03-04-2005, 08:51 PM They are held in but clips. The clips on the top middle one or in the front or back I believe, and I think the passneger one cliups are on the side, though I can't remeber off the top of my head. They'll come out, just not as easy as the 2 little top side ones. Put a flathead screwdriver under there (maybe wrapp a little making tap around it to protect from scuffing) and pry them out. They do come out, they are just held in by clips...it just takes a little bit to get em out. Before you re-paint, make sure to use a plastic prep product like Dupont Plastic prep. First clean then with a degreaser (like Auto Magic's special Cleaner Concentrate), then go over them with a wax and grease remover, then follow with the plastic prep, like mentioned above. Since vents can be hard to sand, you can use a professional product like SEM Colorcoat. Use the 3836 Sand-Free and follow the directions on the bottlem the follow with the SEM colorcoar of your choice. If you choose to sand of course you still can, if won't hurt. I typically use 400 grit and Adhesion Promoter when I sand plastics to paint. If you sand, sand after the first coat of plastic prep. Go over it with plastic prep one more time after painting before starting. Here's a link to the vast amount of colorcoat choices. http://www.sem.ws/product.php?product_id=190 honda_luvr_2000 03-05-2005, 11:57 AM u'r right eckoman, the top middle one, u pop the side closest to the face of the dash first. the passenger side one has the clips on the sides, but have fun. yes it comes out, but it breaks easy. i have a buddy that broke his, then went to a yard to pull a replacement and broke that one too. i cracked mine the second time i pulled it out. unfortunately I no longer have the car. i had the entire interior redone, except the front seats. :banghead: :crying: typerx7 03-07-2005, 11:47 PM a tip for painting interior peices....i did my whole interior and changed it from brown to black...i used interior vinyl dye and it sticks good to the dash and vinyl stuff but on the plastic it chips off very easily...i recently have been redoing the hard plastic pieces an trying many different paints...finally i foudn one...for the vents the handles the glove box and the runners i used duplicolor's import auto spray...its an exterior paint so its an enamel and wont chip...plus thye have sweet colors...my interior is all black with honda graphite colored pieces...it looks sick...all i did was steel wool the pieces and cleaned them with rubbing alcohol then sprayed...they look sweet...if u want pics email me at sevinrx7@hotmail.com/ vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
