Color fading on plastic over wheel well.sklater 03-03-2005, 08:29 PM The plastic covering over the wheal well (can't remember the name) is fading. I have a 98 cherokee sport, so it has the black all around the jeep. When I first bought it was a grayish color because it had faded so bad. I bought this special plastic/bonding spray paint from an auto store, and was able to get it black again, but now it is peeling, as seen in the pictures. Any special kind of rub on stuff I can use to turn it back to black. I think it is really ugy faded. I'm sure everyone knows what I'm talking about. Any ideas on how to turn it black again would help. thanx http://www.msnusers.com/JeepPic1 avmx 03-03-2005, 11:35 PM Those parts are readily available as aftermarket parts for relatively low prices. You're probably just better off replacing them. I6whitejeep 03-16-2005, 08:34 AM I bought some new flares for mine, not for the same reason... Check this out.. Like the calcium lime removers, CLR is one such product. The spray over solutions will not be permanent. Then if you can't get them back to the color you want, they are already off to be replaced. I've been surprised by the kinds of things I can order from my Jeep dealer. You might be able to just get OEM replacement parts. Jim scuba4321 03-16-2005, 04:34 PM there was a product out there called "back to black" it was for restoring black plastic. Have not seen it in a while, I would try PepBoys as they have alot of chemicals in stock :2cents: jsmiddleton4 03-16-2005, 05:11 PM So did you use your original fasteners? And do they provide additional clearance, more mud flap extension in back? Look about the same as stock? Jim vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
