My 2000 rodeo stalls a lot, usually whenever i go to stop or am slowing down to pull into a parking stop. It idles a little rough, but rarely stalls when idling, just when driving through traffic lights for the most part. I brought it to a garage and they replaced the throttle valve assembly and the sparkplugs. The codes have been all checked and nothing could be found wrong. Any ideas?

sounds like a classic leaking intake manafold gasket:

if you are the orginal owner Isuzu will replace it for free if you are under the 10yr/120k

If you are the second owner they will replace it for 5yr/60k.

The first thing i had done to the car was replacing the intake manafold gasket. Any other thoughts? thanks.

I wounder if they used the new torque spec of 13lbs.

Also, have you had your EGR and EGR port cleaned?

I have had the same problem for a while now also- the SUV will stall ocassionaly when idling or stoping, and also generally requires starting several times, it generally stalls after the first start.

I also had the intake manifold gasket replaced. It seemed to help a little bit, but now, two months later it is surely no better than before. [Please explain further about the new 13lb torque spec- what was the old spec?]

I have no error codes. I tried cleaning the EGR and the EGR tube with carb cleaner. I suspected that the EGR was stuck closed, as it does seem to stick in that possition a bit. I don't know if the electric EGR (which has like 6 contacts) gives position feedback to the computer to tell if it is stuck closed and wether this would necessarily produce an error code.

Anyway, I don't know what to do next.

Rosemari, let me know what you find out.

Anyone have any more ideas?
