Sebring loud squeling noiseksl 03-02-2005, 10:12 AM I have a 1999 sebring that I just purchased. When I start it up it makes a high squealing noise. Also when I push on the acelerator while driving. If I have my foot off the acelerator and I'm just cruising it doesn't squeal. Could someone please help. This sound is so embarrassing!! FireBball972 03-19-2005, 12:27 PM i just got this fixed. it could be that a plastic cover over the timing belt has become dislodged in some way as to rub against the timing belt and cause that horrendous noise. If I have my foot off the acelerator and I'm just cruising it doesn't squeal. Could someone please help. This sound is so embarrassing!! my 95 sebring makes the same noise and i got it checked out and the guy said that the axel that the ac belt is on isnt rotating which causes that noise, and if you use the ac theres a greater chance of the belt breaking which will cause more problems. so it could be that, also i dont have any plastic covers on my sebring belts so it cant be that. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
