Hey everyone, I have another problem with my s-10...I am trying to get 'er ready to sell but I want to try to address a problem first...

I have a new noise coming from the back of the car that randomly appears at low rpm while moving. It isnt at any particular speed or rpm, and it seems only to happen when the motor and drivetrain are vibrating at just the right frequency.

The noise is a metallic clanging / ticking noise. It kind of sound slike that pinging sound that hot exhaust makes after you shut off the car, except it tings in tune with the vibration of the engine. My buddy thought it might be an exhaust problem. Any suggestions?

p.s. In an earlier thread, I asked about a squeaking noise from the rear....I finally got that taken care of, i got under there and greased every moving part I could see. Thank you for the suggestion, you saved me a bunch of money since I didnt have to take it in! Hopefully this will be a similar fix!

i would say its a plastic intereor finish pannel rubbing on something, ie the pressure clips inside, or if the seats are leather, nothing major or really fixable

Cat convertor is probably shot.

Get under your truck and hit the cat with the flat palm of your hand and listen for rattles.
