Timming issuewako528 03-01-2005, 06:13 PM I have a 92 dx (d15b7) anyway i just got a timming light so i check the timmig. wow the timming is way off its half way between the 3 lines and the TDC line. so i move the dizzy toward the radiator and it moved closer to the 3 lines but it is still off. By the way before i moved the dizzy the car drove like shit it would back fire like crazy and the steering wheel would shack like nutz, but now there is little back fire and the wheel shack a bit.I want to know if i have to reset the timming to TDC or 15deg. before TDC and how to do it ? Greenblurr93 03-01-2005, 07:25 PM Haynes manuel is your best friend for these common problems. wako528 03-02-2005, 09:18 PM i have manual but it only shows how to advance and retard the timming. I want to kown how to reset the timming Greenblurr93 03-03-2005, 08:47 AM it should also tell you what is OEM timeing, or there should be a sticker (sometimes) in your engine bay with the correct settings. sohcfreak97 03-03-2005, 11:36 AM Did U Set Your Car To Base Timing And Have The Engine Warmed Up?and Is Your Timing Gun Set To 15 Degrees? Or 0 Degrees? polacek 03-03-2005, 01:53 PM Make sure you disable the ECU before doing anything with the timing. If you don't the ECU will keep fighting you and automatically advance or retard as needed. superbluecivicsi 03-03-2005, 05:35 PM you mean dont forget to jump the wires when adjusting the timing. wako528 03-03-2005, 10:07 PM i did forget to jump the ecu so do i put the dizzy back where it was(i marked the stock location), then jump the ecu then move it again, o yeah the timming dosen't have a dial on it to retard or advance polacek 03-03-2005, 11:30 PM Yes, jump the ECU near the passengar kick panel. "o yeah the timming dosen't have a dial on it to retard or advance" Are you about the timing gun? No need for that to be adjustable, that is what the marks on the pully is for. wako528 03-04-2005, 09:54 PM so do i put the dizzy back to the original mark then jump the ecu? polacek 03-04-2005, 10:36 PM Just jump it, and go from there wako528 03-10-2005, 06:22 PM ok I put the dizzy back to the stock mark (with car off ) then jump the ecu and advanced the dizzy (moved toward the radiator) the timing is still off but not by much, but now the car drives like shit again d@mn can someone help snowman2005 03-10-2005, 07:00 PM telling us ur car drives like shit doesnt really help. more info plz on what its doing. check ur spark plugs wako528 03-10-2005, 07:18 PM it back fires alot when the car is at idle and the steering wheel shakes haven't checked the plugs yet honda_luvr_2000 03-11-2005, 12:58 AM ok I put the dizzy back to the stock mark (with car off ) then jump the ecu and advanced the dizzy (moved toward the radiator) the timing is still off but not by much, but now the car drives like shit again d@mn can someone help pretty sure u retarded the timing by rotation the top toward the radiator. if u look at firing order of the wires on the dizzy, it is clockwise when looking directly across the car from the tranny side. by turning the dizzy clockwise u r delaying when the rotor "strikes" the terminals for each plug wire. thus retarding the timing. if u want to advance it, turn the dizzy toward the firewall. wako528 03-11-2005, 06:21 AM ok thanks for the correction, but if i turn the dizzy away for the radiator the car almost dies.It looks like the car's timing was set to 8degrees TDC not 15 before i did anything wako528 03-14-2005, 08:22 PM anyone vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
