I have a 1991 UK Spec MR2 GT, 167 bhp.

I did want the TURBO version, but insurance costs in the UK are astronomical, especially for a 21 year old guy.

Any way, since i wanted the turbo but had to settle for the GT i have been longing for a bit more power. A mate of mine has offered me a NOS kit for 350 quid (665 dollars) now i really fancy it, but what sort of NEGATIVE effects will this have on my engine. I dont plan to use the NOS often at all, it will be once evry blue moon to be honest, but i thought i would ask what sort of damage can i risk by installing NOS or is it as simple as, dont abuse it and you will be fine? Id like to hear from anyone who has any experience or has actually used NOS on an MR2. Im not sure on the exact type of NOS kit it actually is he is e-mailing me later today, but ideally what kit would be best and at what shot, 50, 75 possibly 100, and whether its a wet or dry kit. will my engine ( 3sge ) stand up to this? I suppose im asking which is the best NOS kit for the MR2 with the minimal risk of engine damage.

First make sure your motor is in tiptop shape before nitrous.

And obviously for minimal risk, do the minimal shot of those three (50).

I pondered a 50 shot on my 5sfe back in the day, but since gotten over the idea.

Oh yes, one more thing.

Don't use Zex.

seem like decent sort of stuff...

as long as you do a small amount (50-75 shot) with a wet kit, and don't abuse it you shouldn't have any trouble. but like andrew said, just make sure your engine is in good condition first or you will run into problems.

there is more to it, like making sure you don't lean out your mixture too much with the nitrous injected and thus, burning hotter/more/etc... but as i'm not really a fan of nitrous, i'll let someone who has dealt with it aswer that more accurately.
