96 Jetta GLS taillights always on?maxim26 02-28-2005, 10:34 PM hello, on a 96 Jetta GLS, are the L & R tail lights supposed to be on as part of the daytime running lights feature? I have an electrical problem which leaves my tialights & center rear stoplight on all the time, that I am trying to diagnose. It would be useful to know if the L& R tail lights are part of the DTR lights thing or not. Thanks for your replies boschmann 03-01-2005, 02:20 PM No they are not. It could be a grounding issue in the trunk or tail light housing area or an issue with the headlight switch. nicoleos 03-02-2005, 04:21 PM I have the same problem, but when i brake, they light brighter. My third taillight is always on, too. nicoleos 03-02-2005, 05:49 PM Will that do anything to my battery or damage anything? boschmann 03-02-2005, 07:48 PM Nicoleos, you probably have a bad ground connection back there. nicoleos 03-03-2005, 01:21 PM Boschmann, when my car is off, and i step on the brake, the cluster light and the ac/ defroster light lights also. What does that tell me? boschmann 03-04-2005, 06:18 PM Have you noticed any relationship to moving the ignition switch? nicoleos 03-07-2005, 01:44 PM When i step on the brake, it lights the dash and makes a clicking sound, except when i have the ignition on auxiliary mode. Then, the lights come on automatically, but not clicking sound!?! boschmann 03-09-2005, 06:46 PM I still think there's a problem with the wiring in the rear. Possibly a bulb twisted in improperly. mike1989 11-23-2005, 11:27 PM check your fuses. mike1989 11-29-2005, 10:41 PM if you get a clicking sound your relays might be the problem. you should check that out vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
