Wondering about a body colur, as the time has come to paint it :)
Obviously I need some primer ;) but ideally I'd like to do it in the famed deep purple. Now, in the flesh, this paint has a tendancy to not look extremely purple. Which is the best colour to acheive a decent look with?
Thanks,
Tom

Yes :p But which paint for the purple? I can't see anything suitable by Tamiya, which leaves me the scary option of automotive paints, I guess.
Also, what colour primer, grey?

If you have an airbrush, get some translucent purple nail polish!! :evillaugh
Then make the primer white or grey so it'll be a light shade of purple that changes with the light - or make the primer black to make it midnight purple
Just a thought :D

Unfortunately, I don't have an airbrush :)

I used a BMW colour so you could visit a dealer and get a touch up spray off them.
Rover also do some nice purples. Otherwise try Halfords, they are the only automotive sprays I would use!
Grey primer will be fine!

I may take a trip to Halfords tomorrow, see what I can locate.
Nearest BMW dealer is a fair drive, so that may have to remain a last resort :)

Have a look at the VW i done in the gallery. It was sprayed with Tamiya TS53 Deep Metallic Blue but as you can see from the colour its almost purple.

I did notice that yesterday... I might buy a can and see how it looks in the flesh.

Hmm, I seem to have located a Tamiya spray, Metallic Purple, which goes by the code of MS-6.
I can't however find this on any colour charts  ..
If anyone can shed any light on it for me, I'd be very grateful.
TAM85306 MS-6 Metallic Purple £3.99
Hmm, there's also the polycarbonate version, I guess I'm better off with acrylics?
