Help - 94 JGC: Alarm wont reset, car wont startLegalhit 02-28-2005, 05:19 PM Hello, ...Just registered with this site and am looking for some help. This past Friday I came back from work to find my 94 JGC with all of its interior lights on. I was at first confused as to how this could happen (and planned on my battery being dead) but things got worse when I tried to start the car. The engine wont turn over (makes a rapid clicking noise) and the dashboard-security light plus the exterior anti-theft lights start flashing. Essentially, it looks like the alarm is going off, without the actual alarm. I can deactivate this process by stepping out of the car and unlocking the driver side door with my key - but the entire process repeats itself once i try to restart the engine. I called AAA - he thinks the alarm went off and now with the battery depleted, it cant reset. Please, any advise on this would be greatly appreciated. Nothing like this has happened before, but the car is now at some shady mechanics and I would love to have an idea as to whats wrong before he tries to rip me off. p.s., my batteries for the key-less remote are also dead (cant find them anywhere) but would this make a difference in resetting the system? I used the manual powerlocks to lock my car in the first place. HELP! glass 02-28-2005, 06:24 PM I have a 94 gc limited 4.0, on a long trip , while stopping for a break , went to the car , it would turn over , but not start or run more than 30 seconds , towed to the dealership , they had to reset the alarm, and asked for my remote start, told them i didnt carry it becuase the batteries were always dead , they got it started by reprograming the computer , I carrt the remote in the glove box now , alsofor your info, while stuck on the road , i tried changing the coil, didnt help, tried removing the fuel pressure regulator , had no fule pressure or gas in the line , the alarm had shut off the gas flow , and recently in the driveway, was surprised thet suddenly the car acted like the battert was stloen, I didnt use the remote , but instead , tried the key in all the doors , it started right up. tempermental car , alarm , wish it wasnt installed , have seen posts here that say a low battery will cause the same problems with the alarm....that s my 2 cents worth , hope it helps Legalhit 02-28-2005, 07:19 PM thanks for the help - anyone else out there with similar insights? Seems like this is a pretty "common" problem... mistang25 03-01-2005, 07:11 AM A Dead Batt. Or A Bad Connection To The Batt. May Be The Problem, It's Happened To Me To And It Was A Bad Connection. The Cables Were To Blame. dksob81 03-01-2005, 08:24 AM The rapid clicking and Security light/headlights flashing is all because of a dead battery. The clicking is because there isn't enough juice to turn the engine. and the Security system is going off because the jeep isn't starting, after cranking for a few seconds and not starting this triggers the alarm. REPLACE/RECHARGE THE BATTERY! or bad connections like mistang said. sdowning1967 03-03-2005, 05:04 PM I have a 94 GC also had a similer problem what I found was the hood switch that is located on the passenger side fender was bad. I took the wire off the switch and soldered them together then black taped them I haven't had the problem since. I hope this helps hardisk_c 03-06-2005, 07:00 PM Usually points to either a depleted battery or cruddy connection. Hit the battery w/ about an hour's 10 amp deep-cycle charge, then try the jeep again. It seems that the 'alarm on powerup' is a Jeep precaution on not being able to disconnect/reconnect the battery to bypass that system. . . so when the draw from the starter goes away, the car resets itself & you have to turn off the security alarm again. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
