>>PROGRESS: Flip-Flop Evo VI<<nis.k.a. 02-28-2005, 04:54 PM I have a model show this weekend. I'll be entering 2 Skylines but I wanted one other so I decided to role with the punches on the mis-painted EVO (another thread). The paint is Dupli-Color Mirage Purple/Green. At the right angle it can show blue hues. At another angle it can be full on Gunmetal color. Kinda cool. I don't like the flakes too much but whatcha gonna do? Not nearly as cool as a HOK Kameleon or Majzora but nice for the price. In the other thread I was going to use Aoshima Blitz TechnoSpeed Z1's. Well, I changed my mind. The EVO will sport SAS drilled rotor/caliper and Aoshima 18" BBS LM's with black spokes. As always, the suspension needed some modifications but no big deal. I hope you like.....feedback always welcome. {Still need to apply a final polish and wax.} http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/302473DSCN1318-med.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/302473DSCN1322-med.JPG bimbachetuning 02-28-2005, 05:16 PM The paint its the same than mine. Your effect paint its more big, in mine model its less efect. More pics of the process, please! robrex 02-28-2005, 05:17 PM I can't make up my mind if I like the colour but I know you'll do a great job on the kit. It looks like the progress will be quick with the show next weekend. Bring it on!!! Alfa 147 02-28-2005, 05:39 PM The paint look's great, the color change it's a little bit drastic though any outdoor pic please? ImolaEK 02-28-2005, 06:04 PM Nice, The color is cool:) nis.k.a. 02-28-2005, 06:12 PM The paint its the same than mine. Your effect paint its more big, in mine model its less efect. More pics of the process, please! For color changing paint it's and absolute must that the paint be smooth and as uniform as possible. Otherwise, the light off the paint will be reflecting a bunch of different directions. The paint look's great, the color change it's a little bit drastic though any outdoor pic please? Outdoor pics will be later when finished. For this kind of paint the change has too be drastic otherwise the car would be flat black with some speckles. The actual color coat is clear. The effect is only shown when sprayed (many times) over a black base coat. michael1978 03-01-2005, 12:59 PM The Color looks real great , do you have to spray a Black Base Coat before you apply the Dupli Color ( like you have to do at HOK ) ? Looks realy sweet , only can wait so see the progress ! nis.k.a. 03-01-2005, 01:34 PM Michael- Yes, you must first lay down a black base coat/primer. Thanks for the kind comments. drifter_fan 03-01-2005, 07:34 PM Does majzora paint come in a spraycan? Do you know where I can get some? That paint looks cool :sunglasse nis.k.a. 03-01-2005, 07:54 PM At the moment Mr.Color Majzora can only be applied by an airbrush. The same with HOK Kameleon's. Both are very expensive. I'm not sure if Black Gold has HOK Kameleon in a can? Maybe someone else can answer that one. This particular paint isn't on the level with HOK or Majzora but for the price it's pretty cool. I picked up this Dupli-Color set at a local automotive store. SupaMan89T 03-01-2005, 10:23 PM looks good man! nis.k.a. 03-02-2005, 02:52 PM http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/302473DSCN1330-med.JPG Three days and counting. The panel lines and door frames/moulding painted. Corner lamp BMF'd. Modified spoiler with CF. If you've got a good eye you'll also see the modified side view mirrors that I'm using. The block-off plates for the stocks need to be painted. As promised, BBS LM with black centers. The ride height will be a little higher. ImolaEK 03-02-2005, 03:00 PM http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/302473DSCN1330-med.JPG As promised, BBS LM with black centers. The ride height will be a little higher. Wow, The paint looks awesome. The wheels are perfect! Those are Aoshima's or Fujimi's BBS LM's? nis.k.a. 03-02-2005, 03:04 PM Aoshima, baby! ImolaEK 03-02-2005, 03:08 PM Aoshima, baby! LOL...thanks. :icon16: ThatRoundHeadedKid 03-02-2005, 06:57 PM How do you do that effect with the paint? primera man 03-02-2005, 07:19 PM Looking good so far!! nis.k.a. 03-02-2005, 07:48 PM How do you do that effect with the paint? Spray it on the model. No really, the color coat is like that straight from the can. The trick to a good flip-flop is a smooth surface (lots of wetsanding/polishing). ThatRoundHeadedKid 03-02-2005, 07:58 PM God, I really need lessons on all this stuff lol DJPaul 03-03-2005, 12:12 PM Nice color. Do you this it will look ok on Mercedes Actros Truck? Thanks nis.k.a. 03-03-2005, 12:19 PM That's entirely up to you. There are different flip paints that Dupli-Color makes if you're interested. Here's the link to their page.
