2000 Dakota Slipping 1st gearPwalk42 02-28-2005, 11:56 AM Hello everyone, My first post here and I need your help. I own a 2000 Dodge Dakota. 3.9 V6 w/ an Automatic transmission. RWD. About a month ago the truck would hesitate in 1st gear. It would rev real high before settling back down and continue driving. It does this maybe once a week. Yesterday I was driving to the store when the truck just wouldn't grab into 1st gear after I applied gas. When it did the truck violently jerked forward. The truck has 66,600 miles on it and I refuse to think I need a new Tranny. Can anyone here help me out? I've read that it maybe the Transmission Output Shaft Speed Sensor. If thats the case I'll pay to have it fixed. Otherwise I'm $1300 from paying the thing off and would rather trade it in than drop another dime on it. Any help is greatly appreciated. PWalk42 troy1 02-28-2005, 02:05 PM Sounds like it might be the transducer and Governor solenoid. A Good tranny shop can tell you if it are those sensors by putting a scanner on it and watching the sensor. Pwalk42 02-28-2005, 06:19 PM I appreciate it. This is bugging me to no end. I'm going to hit a couple of shops this week as soon as the snow melts to see what they all say. Wa jang chang 03-02-2005, 01:38 PM My 97 Dakota (RWD) has similar problem. When I shift the gear from park to Drive, it stays there for several seconds before it moves. It happens only when temp is cold in the morning. Once engine/trans are warmed up, it works fine. Pls post what have you found. wajangchang 1thunder 03-02-2005, 09:21 PM did anybody check oil level??????? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
