Hi,
I put a deposit down on a 2000 GLS VW Beetle(44000) miles. The vehicle looks in good condition(I am just talking about its looks, I dont know anything about cars!)
The engine however makes some noise like a crackling noise when you are idling it. I dont know enough to make sense out of it. However, the dealer is certifing it and giving me a two year/24000 miles warranty. It costs 13000 with warranty.
Should I or should I not buy it? I am very bad with handling problems, and was hoping that it will be a hassle-free car, except for minor foibles.

Please advise this newbie.

That's alot of $, even with the low miles. Here in the southeast the sell for $8-10K. Have them check the catalytic converter as they are prone to develop rattles.
