Just picked up a new LS 3.55 8-1/4 rear for cheap and want to put it in my '98 dakota(open rearend). The new one came out of '97 4x4.

Well I was measuring stuff to make sure everything was going to work fine.Turns out the new(LS Diff) 8-1/4 has 9inch drum brakes and a 3-3/4 yoke.

On my '98 8-1/4(in truck now, open end) has 10inch drums and a 3-5/8 yoke.

So I am wondering if I can swap the yokes(dont know if they are the same spline)? Or do i have to find a special u-joint?

As for the brake problem I plan on just swapping it over to the new rear.
