Stock shockskmorness 02-23-2005, 06:49 PM There is a discrepancy between what appears to be stock shocks on my 2001 325i and what the mechanic says. Everytime I search, I find KYB shocks, but I supposedly I should have Boge shocks and he swears up and down KYB's don't come on BMW. He's recommending Bilsteins, which seems sweet, but expensive and probably unnecessary if I plan on selling my car in the next couple years. I basically hit a pothole that trashed my suspension, and I have to replace 2 wheels, 4 tires, some suspension components, and all my shocks, even though only 1 is damaged. The others have 40K miles on them, so may as well do them all at once. I'm replacing my 16" stock wheels with 17" SSR Comp's (semi-forged 15lbs a wheel -- light!), and Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. Figured that would be a nice clean upgrade, seeing most of the stuff needs to be replaced anyways. Insurance is paying for most of the mechanical and parts, except for upgrades and "undamaged-but-should-be-replaced-in-pairs" parts like tires and shocks. So does anyone know what shocks come standard on a cookie cutter 2001 BMW 325i? Thanks! Skycity_BMW 02-25-2005, 10:48 AM GO for the Bilsteins . . . . since your upgrading your rims and tires . . . mflinehan 02-25-2005, 03:19 PM I'm going to have to agree with him why not go for the better of the two since your replacing everything kmorness 03-01-2005, 01:32 PM Yeah, I decided to go with the upgrades. My car will be ready later today with new Bilsteins, new wheels, and new tires. Can't wait! But $2000 out of pocket for the "upgrades". Skycity_BMW 03-02-2005, 09:40 AM That's a start . . . We need to see some pics ! ! ! mflinehan 03-02-2005, 10:19 AM Definately we need to see some pictures, and I'm sure you'll be happy with the money you spent in the long run vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
