As far as I know, they came with 3 different engines.
1.8L inline4
2.0L non-mivec V6
2.0L mivec V6

2.0L mivec V6 You’re absolutely right.

The GS is the 1.8L
The GR is the 2.0L non-MIVEC V6
and the GPX and GP Version R are the 2.0L MIVEC V6I

I've got the GPX (well in the process of selling it anyway). It's a great car, and I'm really going to miss it.

Crackerman, see if you can find a German Spec FTO those should be left hand drive and then you can get the car federalized easy(You could do that with the Right hand drive cars bur its gonna be much more $$$). Check it out. Good luck man the FTO is a badass car. OHHH, another thing is that Mitsubishi is going to be or already is selling the FTO in Mexico and get this is supposed to have a 3.0LTwin Turbo motor!! And laying down mad horsepower, you could look into that one as well. Again, good luck man.

Not going to happen mate, the FTO was only ever officially released in Japan. A few got officially imported into the UK & Australia but the rest are all grey imports - so there are NO left hand drive ones I'm afraid! (which is a shame cause if they were available in the US there'd be a shed load more tuning parts available to us and maybe Mitsi would still be making FTO's now!)

I know, i wish i had the car, dang mitsu. The cars seem really really cheap ove rin UK say a GPX for like 8000[uk curreny] which came to round liek 12-13 Gs here which i think is extremly good for a 200hp V6 . Man i'd rape alot cars with it, stock :) . I wish they came here, i've been hearing rumours of the new FTO with 3.0l TT, i am going to keep looking into it, the second i find hard proof and price, im gonig to import it :) [if i can afford it ;), hopefully will keep norm FTO cheap price ahahha i wish ]

Tooo bad they were never in US officialy, but hey, if we are able to get em from mexico in future less posers to have em, only the TURE enthusiast will own and cherish it :).

the closest thing i heard to the 3.0tt fto was 3.0tt sst(a modified 3g eclipse) on Mitsubishi's concept cars site.

hey you never know im in the process of getting everything i need to import the sweet ass car into the US and all im looking for now is the crash test information other then that i already know how much it's going to cost to get it over here. and as for the 3.0TT i doubt it unless you do some serious modifications with the turbos. I think someone got mixed up thinking that they could put the v6 twin turbo out of the 3000gt vr4 (thats what we call the GTO here in the US). only problem is that the v6 that sits in the fto is a 121 cu. and the twin turbo engine is a 181 cu. so fitment is doubtful

the FTO is no better than the eclipse, which is built in the US, to import them Mitsu would have had to deal with paying duties, thats why they sold the domestically built Eclipse instead.

You cannot legally import one to the USA an there isn't enough interest in them to create a federalization process as has been done with the skyline.
