I have a 2000 Daewoo Nubira with 43k miles. I got the recall notice on the cam shaft sensor replacement but dealer told me that the lot # on my sensor wasn't in the recall. A month later the engine light comes on and a scan reveals that it's cam shaft sensor. Called dealer back & explained situation, they told me too bad, I would have to pay for replacement. Am I getting screwed here? Is there anywhere to call to complain or confirm what the dealer said?

Yes you are being screwed.

Today I replaced my CAM sensor and it was free of charge.

Call this number and leave a message:

888-643-2396

They will call you back and explain.
Also you can locate a dealership by using this website:

Your car is under extended drivetrain warranty and I do not see any reason you shouldn't be able to fix anything related to drivetrain for free.
Good luck.

The recall only applies to certain cam sensors that fall within a certain lot numbers. Daewoo received a bad batch from a supplier and those are the ones that have a potential to catch fire. That is why they are issuing the recall, because of fire, not because of a check engine light.

The cam sensor is normally only covered under the 3/36 warranty, not the powertrain warranty.

Some people get lucky and have a check engine light on and theirs falls within the lot numbers. Some people drive around with the light on, get the recall notice and expect it to be replaced for free. Some people never have an issue at all, have their cam sensor inspected and go on their merry way. It's just luck of the draw.
