360 How Much Power Is PossibleHijaxx 02-21-2005, 01:26 PM I have a 1979 Plymouth Volare Roadrunner and it orignally had a 318 automatic in it. I got my hands on a 360 for in along with the clutch assembly to make it a manual. But I was just curious on what would be some of the best mods to add to get the most power out of the engine? turbo maxima 03-23-2005, 07:02 PM cam, intake and a new carb could add some power really easy, boaring it out or getting new heads could make it really nice, but thats a little more expensive, do u wanna set it up for driving, racing, or a little of both? It will be in the 525 HP range, using a Comp solid/flat tappet Xtreme Energy grind, Comp rocker shaft system, medium-ported 360 heads (340 heads can be made to flow more), Ross flat top pistons, Edelbrock Performer RPM "Air Gap", Hookers, etc. Compression will be a bit high for pump gas. The customer understands, and will be mixing fuel. In short, there's a TON of power available from 360. IMO, it's a better street-driven engine than 340 due to the longer stroke and more low-end power. A 340 is a better revver. Virtually all the performance "bolt-ons" for 340 will fit 360. He also wants it to be durable for the "long haul", which means keeping the rod/stroke ratio as high as possible. Good idea, though!
