1/16th scale 1934 Ford HiBoyPRIVATEER 02-19-2005, 06:15 PM Here is my new project. The kit is Revell's old '34 Ford. I am building it as a fenderless Hiboy. The kit is not too bad for it's age, it came with a beautiful small block chevy. The interior is pretty decent, and it came with a set of pretty Halibrand wheel's. However....I am using an old blown 426 Hemi from MPC ,big and littles from a Muscle Machine diecast, and am planning on opening the doors which will require surgery on the interior. These pics are just mock-ups. Being 1/16 scale means there will be plenty of room for detail, and some scratchbuilding. What you think??? http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/98443mock1.JPG This pic is for reference....thats a 1/25th scale 34 Ford next to it. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/98443comp.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/98443wheel.JPG SupaMan89T 02-19-2005, 06:16 PM looks awsome man! :) blubaja 02-19-2005, 06:58 PM Hey, Nice kit. SidewayzS15 02-20-2005, 05:23 PM thats an awsome kit, i can never find bigger scale cars, especially old hot rods. lucky! PRIVATEER 02-20-2005, 06:29 PM I won it on E-Bay. It wasn't cheap. Here are a couple of quick shots of the body after the doors and trunk were cut out. You can see the interior has been cut in the second pic. I am adding to the floor pan to cover the frame where the car was channeled. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/98443cutout.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/98443jams.JPG primera man 02-20-2005, 07:55 PM You have this looking great already. Fenderless with those big n littles will give this a very mean look. Nice job on the doors so far GTmike400 02-20-2005, 08:31 PM Those doors look like they came cut out! Magnificent work. PRIVATEER 03-04-2005, 05:30 PM Ok guy's here's a little progress. The hinges are made and working. The jams are about finished, they need cleaned up a little. I ordered paint for it today, House of Kolor Kandy Tangerine over Tangelo pearl, with Pearlwhite ghost flames. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/98443HINGE1.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/98443HINGE2.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/98443TRUNK.JPG Mustangman25 03-04-2005, 07:00 PM Beautiful work! I love old Ford hiboys with big fat slicks, and you're doing a great job building one:) PRIVATEER 03-12-2005, 05:54 PM ok...A little more done. The front and rear suspension are mocked up. I made new coils springs for the rear and willl be making some for the front. I need opinion's on the car's stance. What do you all think? http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/98443finmock1.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/98443finmock2.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/98443springs.JPG I found some new seats. I think they are better than the kits seats (kit seats= yellow). http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/98443seats.JPG Also found a couple goodies for the trunk. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/98443nos.JPG Still tons to do...... erb 03-12-2005, 07:38 PM Awsome privateer! GvEman 03-13-2005, 10:40 AM Looks Awsome! Keep it up! willimo 03-13-2005, 01:39 PM Looks like you've got a great thing going. Great work, I think we're all looking forward to the little surprises in this one. MidMazar 03-13-2005, 02:00 PM looks awesome, where did you get the nos bottles?, the door hinges are top notch keep us posted! PRIVATEER 04-03-2005, 08:03 PM Ok, I finally got some more finished. The car is primer now after TONS of filling and sanding. The frame had more sinkholes in it than swamp-land in GA. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/banghead.gif First pic....I scratchbuilt a headliner from scrap plastic and trimmed it with halfround. It's kinda plain, but it looks good in the car. I will be adding a dome light. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/98443hedliner.JPG Next 2 pics show the rack I made to hold the NOS tanks. I made it from sheet styrene. The NOS tanks came from a 1/18 scale diecast. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/98443nosrack1.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/98443nosrack2.JPG The last 2 pics show the car's stance. You can also see the fuel injection and scoop set-up that I'll be using, it came from Competition Resins. You can also see the curve of the headliner in the last pic. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/98443primer1.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/98443primer2.JPG Thanks for looking. druid_99 04-03-2005, 08:37 PM This is going to be awesome :bigthumb: GTmike400 04-03-2005, 08:59 PM Looking absolutely kickin! I've heard that the 1/8 frame also has a lot of problems with sinkholes. Nothing a little bit of evercoat and sanding cant fix. I think I might need to get one of these. Wheelin75r 04-04-2005, 05:21 AM Oh man, I'll be following this one!! The stance looks great. sportracer02 04-04-2005, 06:25 AM Hi, looks very good so far. I had the same kit, the body was heavily wrapped and I sold it again. When I see your project I wish I still had it .... Micha PRIVATEER 04-24-2005, 09:52 PM DISASTER STRIKES !!!!!:banghead::banghead::banghead: I spent all day painting.......a base coat of white, a midcoat of Tangelo Pearl, Followed by several coats of Kandy Tangerine. When I was done, what did I find??? Black spots on the friggen roof !!!!!! The only explaination I can think of is dirt in the airbrush. Well it's true what they say, you can't sand kandy paint without wrecking it. I tried to sand them out,and re-shoot it and ended up with a splotchy roof. Oh well........ If you look you can see black spots in the paint. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/98443badpaint.JPG SchuberT 04-25-2005, 12:01 AM Ugh! Always when you're making such progress. Sorry to hear about your paint problems, I hope you can correct them easily. primera man 04-25-2005, 03:15 AM Bugger about the paint. Colour looks great and should suit it well vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
