Finished: Audi TTVeyron 02-19-2005, 11:47 AM This is my second diecast rebuild...I hope you don't mind. It didn't turn out as good as the Z4 I did but it could have if I was willing to put more time into it....I did a very minimal rebuild. The model is made by Welly and it's 1/24 scale. I painted it Tamiya TS55 Dark Blue and cleared it, then polished. The interior is a combo of Acryl Sloth Brown with a lttle dark red mixied in, and Dragon Black. The alum accents are Acryl Silver. The wheels are Fujimi OZ Nova's which I painted with Testors Silver lacquer in the bottle, the brakes are from a Aoshima kit, I think. http://infinite1der.org/~dino/tt4.jpg http://infinite1der.org/~dino/tt5.jpg http://infinite1der.org/~dino/tt8.jpg http://infinite1der.org/~dino/tt10.jpg http://infinite1der.org/~dino/tt12.jpg http://infinite1der.org/~dino/tt14.jpg http://infinite1der.org/~dino/tt15.jpg bigfrit 02-19-2005, 11:56 AM Batter Strikes Again! Way to go, lovely car, good to see tamiya decided to make it and send the prototype model to you Oli ImolaEK 02-19-2005, 01:57 PM Wow, The paint is just...WOW~! Porsche Carrera 02-19-2005, 02:25 PM nice! though i wish tamiya or even fujimi makes a model of it, but that's unlikely. sportracer02 02-19-2005, 02:38 PM Hi, super finish, nice model. Thats the way I like diecasts. Did you glue the doors, puttied them and rescribed the panels like you did at the Z4?? Micha Cobra Colors 02-19-2005, 02:58 PM What else can you do? Unless Tamiya nestles a TT somewhere in their line up between the S2000, Boxster & SLK, a diecast conversion is the way to go. Very nice work.....and a particularly nice finish! Veyron 02-19-2005, 03:15 PM Hi, super finish, nice model. Thats the way I like diecasts. Did you glue the doors, puttied them and rescribed the panels like you did at the Z4?? Micha Thanks all! Yes, I did, exactly the same way. willimo 02-19-2005, 03:22 PM Fantastic work. It really does look like a plastic kit. Your ability to transform these old things is amazing, if you asked me before your Z4 and this one, I would say such results were impossible. Thanks for proving us wrong! Way to go, lovely car, good to see tamiya decided to make it and send the prototype model to you Oh, Oli, you're going to confuse so many people! Veyron 02-19-2005, 03:23 PM Fantastic work. Frank X. freakmech 02-19-2005, 05:51 PM there is a die-cast forum... sorry but this is the 2nd one. just my opinion!?! Veyron 02-19-2005, 05:59 PM there is a die-cast forum... sorry but this is the 2nd one. just my opinion!?! Yeah, but everybody here knows I'm not into diecast, I'm just trying to add to my 1/24 collection and sometimes the only way to get certain cars is going metal. Besides I disassembled it and built it back just like you would do a plastic model. Veyron 02-19-2005, 06:05 PM A+ :sunglasse is the windshield from acetate No, it's the plastic 'glass' that came with the car. snk33y 02-19-2005, 08:13 PM holy crap this is the welly audi?? wow you can turn crap into gold.simply stunning paint job and rebuild.did you ever do a progress thread for this build up? would really like to see how you pulled this project off. mach1_2003 02-19-2005, 08:48 PM Absolutely beautiful paint.... interior color is a perfect color match for the car. kunta 02-19-2005, 08:58 PM Just stunning! Are you stripping the paint to the bare metal and refinishing, or just sanding and priming the original paint? mike united 02-20-2005, 12:04 AM Im flabbergasted.....:grinno:.....!!! Great build.........as always. Mike :sunglasse Trial_Style 02-20-2005, 01:10 AM The paint is just fantastic! Veyron 02-20-2005, 06:34 AM holy crap this is the welly audi?? wow you can turn crap into gold.simply stunning paint job and rebuild.did you ever do a progress thread for this build up? would really like to see how you pulled this project off. Thanks! Sorry, I didn't take any progress pics. Some people still freak out when they hear the word 'diecast' so I even hesitate to put pics of the finished model on here. Veyron 02-20-2005, 06:37 AM Nice finish. Are you stripping the paint to the bare metal and refinishing, or just sanding and priming the original paint? Thanks! Yes, I stripped it down to the metal because the factory paint is so thick on the diecast it's the only way to go. Then I glued the doors and hood shut with epoxy glue and puttied the panel lines. primera man 02-20-2005, 06:38 AM That paint work is fantastic. You have done a really good job on it. kadler18 02-20-2005, 04:11 PM The real car probably does not shine this much! You took paint to a new level! RSTuningFactory 02-20-2005, 04:27 PM wowwww....love the paint!!!! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
