$1300 swap.97'hatchgsrwishing 02-19-2005, 12:18 AM I was just wondering if $1300 is too much to pay for labor on installing a gsr motor in my 97' hatch. There are only two shops in town that will do the swap, and I haven't asked the other place. But the 1st guy told me $1300 dollars would cover a full swap. I live in the Atlanta area so anyone around here who knows a good swap shop, let me know. I would even be comfortable driving to a neighbor state to save $200+ Promart 02-21-2005, 01:33 AM I would say get the second quote and make sure the place doing the swap has a good reputation.... 1300 for a complete swap....its not a horrible price if it's trust worthy, let's break it down.... 12-15hr job....makes that in the 100 per hour neighborhood.... MF prototype80 02-21-2005, 10:24 PM I would say get the second quote and make sure the place doing the swap has a good reputation.... 1300 for a complete swap....its not a horrible price if it's trust worthy, let's break it down.... 12-15hr job....makes that in the 100 per hour neighborhood.... MF definately get another quote, i was quoted at 600 to do the swap in my 92 hatch. to bad i didnt follow up S13wanabe 02-22-2005, 05:05 PM That is stupid. That is way to high. Tell those assholes at that shop to shove that prie up their ass. $500 is standard. The swap is easy as shit though. Get a walk through online and do it yourself. Easy, easy, easy. I know people around here that do it for $350. It should only take 6 hours or so. 97'hatchgsrwishing 02-22-2005, 10:38 PM Yeah i was thinking about calling the guy at the shop back about that. 1300 does now seem very high. Where did you get yours done? Know of any in the georgia area? maybe a chain of shops? I'm still talking toa gy in ft. lauderdale and he sounds pretty cool about it. Just not so sure bout the drive. I wouldnt mind, but something closer sounds better. 95cord 02-23-2005, 07:49 AM there is alot of import shops in gwinnett county. i'll find you some numbers. 97'hatchgsrwishing 02-23-2005, 09:47 AM awesome. I do a lot of commercial work in gwinett. Gwinette aint no thang. heh. What prices am I looking at around there? I called the guy that said he would do the swap for 1300 and gave him a long talk about how many people whould do it for way less and he was speechless. Still wouldn't lower his price though. Numbers would be great, but business names would be cool to. Thanks. 97'hatchgsrwishing 02-23-2005, 09:48 AM Oh yeah, Where could I find a guide on swapping? Do they make guides for specific swaps? I'm pretty literate in cars but I'm not sure how literate I need to be to do the swap. 95cord 02-23-2005, 10:36 AM import autoworks-7704579991 import motorworks-7704465333 import tech service and repair-7709860222 honda techs-6784751395 hondas only-7707600084 i'm not sure on the prices you will have to call. as for a swapping guide i'm not sure. there is also a shop on hwy. 20 close to the mall of ga. acorss from jw truck sales in buford S13wanabe 02-23-2005, 01:19 PM Just do some online searches. It shouldn't be hard to find a guide. Plus some magazines did walkthroughs on engine swapping. Call up some magazines and tell them what swap you're doing and they should be able to send you the back issue they did it in. Also meet some people in your area who are into cars and imports. That's how you find guys that do it for $350. CivicSpoon 02-23-2005, 04:29 PM Maybe check out this book: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1884089933/ref=olp_product_details/104-5167843-9555944?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance I've never read it, but it looks like something you may want to consider if you're going to try it yourself. Phunyguy 02-24-2005, 02:05 AM i knew nothing about hondas when i did my swap.. and i still believe that it is the only way to learn. Just buy a helms manual and do it. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
