need to know what this smell was.

The only was he's able to explain it to me is that "it gave him a bad headache." Well, i just woke up and talked to him, He said It could be coolant. Which I think is Bull-twinkie, b/cz i don't have a leak. I just did a coolant flush a month ago at 58,000 (i have also done one at 52,000). and i hopefully would have noticed some orange fluid dripping on the ground since then, and my back-up resivor still has coolant up to the cold line right now.

It could be a coolent leak from the heater core. The heater core is up under the dash and it provides heat to the inside of the cab. When there is a leak, it does smell. Take the rad caap off (when it is cold!!) and smell the rad fluid. If it matches the smell that is coming from the vents then BINGO !!! you need to replace the heater core. Also, if it is the heater core there might be rad fluid on the passenger side floor area.

It sounds like you could have a leak in your exhuast manifold causing a smelling coming into your cab.

Before doing any repair work, you should try to smell it yourself. Start the truck, turn on the vents, and close it up. Stand outside a few minutes, get some fresh air, then jump in and sniff the vent. (don't let the neighbors see you or they will probably think you are crazy)

it doesn't smell like coolant. i closed the moonroof and noticed a faint smell. But since i almost always drive with the moonroof open (even a tiny bit in winter) to hear sirens. I think it smelled like something that I was trying to hide one day.... might explain a few things :)

it was an ounce, and well, the heat... that's just a good combonation until I get pulled over again.... but i really should get that taken care of. i have better things to do anymore than get high; and i realized that it's just a waste of time/money. i need both

He could always have a party and set the truck on fire.

So lets see, you posted a question about what people think the smell might be and if you should be worried about it or not, and you outright know what the smell was all along? And on top of that it was illegal drugs. If you have a technical question about a car, post on automotive forums, don't ask how to get a drug smell out of a car.

In the pothead's defence...he didn't know what the smell was when he started the thread. He thought there actually was a problem.

it was my roommate who thought there was a problem at first, i guess i got used to the smell. But yes, when theres an uncommon smell coming from your vehicle theres always some worry. well i gotta learn to pick up what I put down (or hide) on the plus side, it gave me time to clean my truck.

1. I had no idea what the smell was he was talking about until ONE day LATER, after the original post.
2. The smell was different, not like a "burning" smell.
3. I NEVER asked how to remove the odor from my vehicle.
