Sway Bar Links

How easy is it to install sway bar links? I dont want to spend $150 to get them done in the shop...id like to learn and do it myself. Is there any documentation out there?

I changed the original front links on my '98 GC a few months ago & I wouldn't classify myself as an expert! The most difficult part was removing the originals since there pressed in.

I put jack stands under the front end & removed the front wheels, but this alone did not allow me to whack the pickle fork hard enough without damaging the the paint!

I ended up removing the front sway bar which allowed me to really bang the crap out of the old links (be careful not to damage the sway bar). I also used a small vice when I banged the links out (a bigger vice would have been easier).

Once they were off, everything else was a breeze. I installed the JKS Quicker Disconnects which are greasable, & I have no complaints thus far!

You could probably find good detailed documentation on the internet. I currently have the Haynes manual which only gives you an idea of what to do!

You don't need a fork for these...loosen the nuts, but leave them on, and whack the sway bar up with a hammer (preferably brass, but anything will work). Other than that, they are really easy.
