Another S-13hks_kansei 02-18-2005, 06:48 AM i got the Fujimi Tohge Nissan Silvia S-13, yesterday and it is in progress. i started today and have painted some parts on the tree. i will get pics soon. btw: how do you people feel about Humbrol paints? SchuberT 02-18-2005, 11:55 AM Humbrol is awesome for brush painting, I think. Tops Tamiya and Testors/Model Master easily. Tikiman 02-18-2005, 01:19 PM For brush painting i use only Humbrol enamels and just lately i have used some Humbrol hobby spray (enamel). The silver spray No.11 is great i think, but is more like alluminium. They have a really good range of colours too. If you have any tips on using the metal coat paints i would like to hear tham as i have not had much luck with them. hks_kansei 02-18-2005, 09:11 PM that's good, i only wanted to know if Humbrol were still good, (i'm using tins of it from the late 80's) i'm brush painting all of it except the body. and yes, the paints are still good, even after 10-15 years. (they just need lots and lots of stirring, and a little bit of turpentine) SchuberT 02-18-2005, 11:32 PM My dad's Humbrol paints are from the early 70's. They take a little stirring and shaking, but they're still the best brush paints I've ever used. hks_kansei 02-18-2005, 11:46 PM yeah, Humbrol rule for brushing. hks_kansei 02-24-2005, 06:14 AM well, all the parts on the tree are painted, will get pics. http://www.hlj.com/product/FUJ19161 i was going to use these wheels, providing i can find a set. BTW: how much is HLJ's postage to Australia? EDIT: forgot to ask, these wheels will fit on a Fujimi, without any mods to the spindles wont they? spitfire143 02-24-2005, 06:34 AM The "other currency" under the shipping says 14.47 for OZ. hks_kansei 02-24-2005, 06:36 AM bloody hell! so i'm looking at about $20 for a set? GvEman 02-24-2005, 10:58 AM :useless: I just had to ;) hks_kansei 04-09-2005, 06:45 AM ^ yes, i know i said "soon" but two months is soon isn't it? well, dont worry, nobody missed anything, the Silvia hasn't changed since the first post. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/266480box.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/266480chassis.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/266480inbox.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/266480interior1.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/266480interior2.JPG sorry to the 56K people. Amazon 04-09-2005, 06:59 AM Agree with the bunch, Humbrols are great. A few years ago they changed the formula and started calling them "super Enamel". They are even greater. I use humbrol for 95% of brushpainting. The selection of colors are huge (200+ ?..) hks_kansei 05-16-2005, 05:27 AM another update: not a lot done, put all of chassis together, except exhaust. (ive got plans for that..... mwah ha ha ha!!) http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/266480IMG0a0003.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/266480IMG0a0001.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/266480IMG0a0006.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/266480IMGa00005.JPG hks_kansei 07-03-2005, 08:13 AM ok, just one pic this time. a detailed shot of the underside. i'd like to congratulate fujimi on the suspension (especially the rear) it looks great. BTW: i buggered up the painting on the silver parts at the back (but thats what i get for being a cheap-arse and using dodgy paint i found in the garage) http://img258.echo.cx/img258/537/scan00198gm.th.jpg (http://img258.echo.cx/my.php?image=scan00198gm.jpg) it's a huge image, but i compressed it to under 300kb, so it shouldn't be too bad for 56k. kallum 07-03-2005, 09:38 AM very nice hks_kansei 07-09-2005, 06:00 AM ok, just a pic of a few tools. "mule" for paint testing, Tamiya Primer (that finally is back on the market), and my home made sander. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/266480the_tools-med.JPG blubaja 07-09-2005, 02:00 PM Is that "mule" a chopped up 206 pug? Keep up the cool progress. Good luck with the rest of this. Frank X. hks_kansei 07-09-2005, 10:47 PM yes it is/was a pug 206. it was the body shell from the "sander", it started life as a taiwanese copy of a tamiya mini 4wd. i only wanted the wheels, but they were too small, so it ended up that i spent $3 on a sander. hks_kansei 07-26-2005, 08:52 AM started side skirts on it, i test fitted the alternate bumper from the kit and noticed a 5mm difference in height between it and the sides, so i got out some plastic and carved away. later i will do a rear apron. later on you will see my secret no pics yet, they will come soon. Jeep_Rubicon 07-26-2005, 11:30 AM Great so far. hks_kansei 08-03-2005, 08:50 PM pics of the skirts, kind of crappy, but the best i can do in this horrible rainy weather. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/266480clearest-med.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/266480angleside-med.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/266480angletop-med.JPG skirts arent done yet, just the basic shape done, i'm going to taper the edges so it fits in with the body better. does anybody have any suggestions as to what i could put on the sides of the skirts to make them less slab like? my secret is getting closer to being revealed g00eY 08-03-2005, 10:24 PM looks good so far... but your pics kinda suck(no offense, i suck at taking pictures probably more than you do). hks_kansei 08-03-2005, 10:33 PM yeah, my camera is good for larger things, but really bad for smaller items. i can use an SLR and develop my own film, but i have no film, and just used my digital. bhop73 08-03-2005, 10:42 PM Your camera doesn't have a macro mode? (usually a little button/icon that looks like a flower) hks_kansei 08-03-2005, 10:57 PM nope, it's just a cheap $200 digital, well, it was cheap for a digi when i bought it. rsxse240 09-16-2005, 09:45 AM here is a suggestion, take the pics from a bit of a distance, then use paitnshop pro, or photostudio to crop and zoom in on your intended subject, I bet you'll get a much better pic, and it usually only takes a second or two longer than just resizing. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
