f1 in Melbournediabloroadster2 02-18-2005, 06:13 AM http://speed.supercars.net/PitLane?viewThread=y&gID=0&fID=2&tID=27251 starter of that thread said there is one at a dealership there, but cant post pictures because of an agreement. anyone know which one or details? Peloton25 02-18-2005, 10:10 AM I added my .03¢ and a pair of photos that mini magic originally found. >8^) ER Mclaren240! 02-19-2005, 01:33 AM Is this car silver or blue or what are we nearer any pics? Thought the third pic was Qsay Husnes car? Am i missing info/pics on a thread hear? F1 monster 02-19-2005, 10:31 AM qusay hussein never had a mclaren f1. McLaren Mike 02-21-2005, 03:29 AM Yes there is a McLaren in Melbourne. Can't comment more. -Mike:aus: V12Unleash 02-21-2005, 11:10 PM Peleton25, the one in melbourne is a different colour, its darker, got a bit of blue in it. shame i have never seen it again. but i seriously doult that the owner will put it in a dealership. but i could be wrong Peloton25 02-21-2005, 11:33 PM Since the car I posted photos of was wrecked and repaired, I have a strong feeling that its still that same F1. Someone can feel free correct me on that if I am wrong. For those who aren't familiar with it, the F1 in Melbourne looks a lot like this shot of #045 taken with the incorrect White Balance setting: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1/car1158s.jpg >8^) ER McLaren Mike 02-22-2005, 03:45 AM It is in a dealership. -Mike:aus: Peloton25 02-22-2005, 04:10 AM That it is... ;) >8^) ER Mclaren240! 02-22-2005, 10:27 AM Are there any more of those 045 shots shots of the Australian F1? Which is the tecnical colour magneasum silver? Peloton25 02-22-2005, 12:13 PM I think you are confused. #045 is not the Australian F1 - it just so happens that particular photo of #045 makes the color look quite similar to the Australian car. Unless someone knows something they aren't saying, the chassis number on the Australian car is unknown. There are also no photos of the actual car in circulation at the moment. >8^) ER Mclaren240! 02-22-2005, 06:39 PM Am trying to build a collectio of 045 pics and that ones in compleatily new to me so i was woundering if ther is more if anyone knows who this dealer is prehaps a web site can be found? Peloton25 02-22-2005, 08:41 PM That shot was taken at the 2003 (I think) Palo Alto Concours when #045 was displayed by Canepa Designs. There are several similar photos in circulation of that car from that day, but that one in particular happens to make the car appear to be a gray/blue like the color of the Australian F1 has been described. As for the dealer the Australian F1 is at - I'm not talking. In fact, I have probably said too much already. :uhoh: We all know how that goes though... :grinno: I don't believe the car is there to be sold, and it doesn't seem like a place where just anyone could go hang out. >8^) ER Mclaren240! 02-22-2005, 10:02 PM 052 025 022 018 020 02 All seam possable if the car was this colour from new so who wants to account for what numbers and may be between us we can come to a possable number. No site even taylor and crawley has a site? O and can anyone dircect me to those 045 shots? Peloton25 03-03-2005, 05:00 AM Well this F1 has broken cover, and I can finally share a photo of it that was taken at the Melbourne Grand Prix by the person who originally reported on it over at SC.net. I suspect this may be the first of MANY photos and info on the car in the days to come. :naughty: http://speed.supercars.net/pitlane/pics/961037dsmall.jpg (http://speed.supercars.net/pitlane/pics/961037d.jpg) Clickable... I guess the color wasn't as blue gray as it appeared in the original shot I saw, which was taken through a pane of glass. >8^) ER Peloton25 03-03-2005, 06:13 AM Some more info on the car... I was correct, this is the Dean Wills F1, however the car has a new owner. The chassis number is #009. Apparently the owner was very friendly and candid about the car. You will find the owners name closely associated with racing Ferraris as he is/was the team principal for Prancing Horse Racing. >8^) ER V12Unleash 03-03-2005, 07:15 AM there is also saying that paul, owner of the minardi team has one Mclaren240! 03-03-2005, 07:16 AM Man i am looking forward do the day when you can share those pics. These forums are kicking right now! Peloton25 03-03-2005, 10:51 AM Here's another pair of photos of the car that tdc911 from SC.net took. Figured a few people here might like them... :naughty: http://photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1/th_CA458D03m.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1/CA458D03m.jpg) http://photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1/th_IMG_7916m.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1/IMG_7916m.jpg) Both are clickable for larger versions. It's wheels have been repainted to "normal" silver after being previously the darker graphite colour. What was the chassis number of that car? Was it ever repaired? Any pics of it? Sorry for asking too much :D mini magic 03-15-2005, 03:34 PM No, that wasn't australia. That was in england. The owner was Christopher Dawes. Here it gets confusing. His car was historic orange and had high mounted mirrors with chassis #071. However, he wasn't driving this car. He was driving a burgundy F1 which was destroyed (aparently the crash scene was horrific). His car has been seen in numerous magazines and was spotted on a trailer in Holland (?) last year. I believe McLaren owns the car now, but thats purely speculation, and its quite unlikely, but thats my opinion. We do not know the chassis # of the car he crashed altho its possible it was 029, assuming that the car wasn't repainted. I doubt we'll ever know for sure. mini magic 03-15-2005, 03:44 PM maartenvanthek 03-15-2005, 05:25 PM chris you're right that a friend of mine told me that he saw an orange mclaren, a normal road car, on a trailer in the east of holland. Apparantly it was towed bij a nissan patrol, and it had white license plates, which would probably make it a german car. He was quite sure iirc that it had high mirrors, but i can not guarantee anything on it all being true or not, but he is a car fanatic as good as I am, so I trust him mini magic 03-15-2005, 05:54 PM Thanks Maarten Mclaren240! 03-15-2005, 06:18 PM Was the F1 wreck pictured in driving ambition ever repaired? Is the Dawes car pictured in driving ambition along with a pic of him taking delivery? Its the two pasangers i really feel for. mercy_oz 03-17-2005, 12:57 AM Woot...Im going to Melbourne, i emailed the guy a while ago and ive finally recieved a positive reply that it is still in the showroom. If im allowed ill take a thousand pics :) AussieSlacker 05-08-2005, 10:44 PM Hi, guys, love what you doing with the mclaren section! it really is the best part of this forum! This is the first one I've seen and it really puts it into perspective how small the car really is. McLaren Mike 05-09-2005, 04:23 AM oh yes! also, there is a user in ultimatecarpage claiming that he sort of knows the two mclaren owners in melb, i donno, may be you mac lovers can contact him to find out more info or something http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14257&page=5&pp=15 There has only ever been one owned F1 in Australia and that is 009. If this guy is right it would be an extremely recent purchase. -Mike:aus: AussieSlacker 05-09-2005, 06:02 AM is it? i 'm not too sure, should sent a msg to the bloke and ask but it would be pretty cool if there is 2 mac in melb Peloton25 05-11-2005, 11:44 PM oh yes! also, there is a user in ultimatecarpage claiming that he sort of knows the two mclaren owners in melb, i donno, may be you mac lovers can contact him to find out more info or something http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14257&page=5&pp=15 The info on a second McLaren F1 in Australia has been greatly exaggerated. I have confirmed that through someone I would consider to be an unquestionable source. As always when I am confident, I challenge someone to prove that info to be incorrect. ;) All in good fun of course. >8^) ER McLaren F1 Guy 08-09-2005, 10:05 PM Sorry to bump the thread up, but I believe I found a new sighting of the F1 in melbourne: http://www.ncr-pca.org/2005/ephraim/ I hope this hasn't been posted before! Peloton25 08-09-2005, 10:41 PM The photo comes from the same event as many of the others - the 2005 Melbourne Grand Prix weekend. I've never seen it before though, so thanks!! >8^) ER madtbo 09-03-2005, 10:17 AM Hey guys, Was in Collins St, Melbourne today when I came across the Mclaren F1 car. Absolutely stunning in real life. mini magic 09-03-2005, 10:39 AM Hey guys, Was in Collins St, Melbourne today when I came across the Mclaren F1 car. It was parked in a normal parking spot and I was amazed how many ppl where taking pics. I will try 2 upload the 2 pics i took with my phone. The plates were "MCLF-1" (Vic rego). Absolutely stunning in real life. Cool. Look forward to seeing the pics madtbo 09-03-2005, 11:09 AM Here are the only 2 pics I took with my sony ericsson pda. They aren't the best but im sure plenty of other ppl took decent shots with professional cameras. I am confused to whether this is only only one in melb.....or if has been stacked? The number plates were those Vitreous enamel ones. Not the crap they produce now. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/37495058220184-med.jpg it wont let me load the other one. i'll try later Peloton25 09-03-2005, 04:14 PM It is the only F1 road car in all of Australia - chassis #009. It was originally owned by Dean Wills, was then purchased Tony Raftis, and I hear that it has now been sold again to Barry Fitzgerald. There's one F1 GTR in Australia with another on the way that has been converted for road use. They've been mentioned in another thread. >8^) ER McLaren F1 Guy 09-04-2005, 06:46 PM Neat photo, thanks for the shot. And thanks for the info Peloton, that's new to me! madtbo 09-04-2005, 09:22 PM for the life of me, it wont allow me to post the second picture I took. I cant understand why it wont let me. I have been told the owner is the bloke that owns it now, owns various Mcdonalds stores in melbourne. Peloton25 09-04-2005, 10:15 PM Just email both shots to me and I will host them remotely without the AutomotiveForums.com watermark.
