I have had a pool table for about 4 years. It is set up in its own house in our back yard. I need to decorate it But I have no idea how to do it. I ask my husband and he says anything would be ok. He is really no help. How can I set it up as a mans space and not have it look so boring. I do not want it to look girly. any ideas? :smile: any welecome

First lots of things involving his favorite beers. Mirrors, sings, and that kinda junk. Posters of his favorite cars, women (if you would allow it), a beer fridge is very decorative, a small bar, maybe wet, nice couch. things of that nature,

Depends on what you're going for. If your going for a nice classy looking mans game room then I would say a few of his favorite beer posters. Framed of course. A beer fridge is a must. Maybe a neon light sign or two. I would avoid the women posters. Just in my opinion doesnt look very nice. But my opinions and idea of a game room is different from most others. Big plasma or lcd screen. Or big screen will do, but will take away from the cool factor.

Sports memorabilia is a safe bet. I've got a lot of signed and framed hockey pictures and prints hanging in my basement, plus a few jersey's hung up on the walls (I still wear them from time to time so they're not encased or anything, but thats a good idea if you're got really nice signed jerseys). Car stuff is cool too obviously (I like those clocks that look like a disc brake & caliper). Seems to me nice pool halls have fancy and weird paintings and art prints that are framed - kinda like abstract art that involves pool in some way (and I'm not talking about the gambling dogs or anything, but then again those prints are classic...).

Oh, if nobody has mentioned it yet, lots and lots of wood makes a pool room feel cosey.

Needs, sports stuff as mentioned.. a really nice dartboard, and autographed jersey of his favorite athlete...um... a t.v. with cable or satellite, and a poker table would go far. :bigthumb:

I have the hole house as my space except for his office. I kinda slowly took that over too. oops. The game room us and his friends spend a lot of time in. most of them are men. You see my house I am verry picky about getting it too dirty and we use the game room as a socilation place so my home does not get to dirty. so I need the men to feel at home there. thats all it really is. and I love my husband, he deserves that much

Go "Martha Stewart" on the place. I'm seeing dollies, flower patterns, lace curtains, bar napkins done as animals, pictures of cute, little babies, pastel colours, etc.

I'd personally, if I were you, first make the room somber, with dark, muted shades, and dark leather furniture. I would find tasteful pictures of British and\or Italian sportscars,of any era,tastefully framed of course.
You must allow cigar smoking, so a "smoke-eater" might be in order to protect you and your family from the stench and detrimental effects of the smoke.
Lastly, and the most important, I would get a "Love Chair" which is a fabulous device for creative lovemaking, and I guarantee he'll appreciate it the next time the two of you "have a go of it".

Perhaps one of those english style dart boards, you know the kind with the dark stained cabinet and the little chalk boards inside? You could also go get one of those barber shop poles, the ones with the moving red and white lines that spiral up the clear tube, my firends dad has one of those and it adds a nice nostalgic effect to the place. If possible could you post a pic to see what kind of area we have to work with?

me and raz are on the same page. My first thought was pole. with a mirrored floor around it, and a pink neon rope around that. Poker table, Dartboard, Car pictures, beer posters, comfortable chairs are a must. Do you have a stereo with a powered subwoofer in there? Bigscreen tv. Is there any kind of cooling system in there? A/C, Ceiling fan? Because once the game room is all decked out, all the guys are gonna wanna hang out, and it'll get a bit warm in there sometimes.

For shits and giggles, I think it would be hilarious to cover all the cool stuff up with the "martha stewart" decor, just to see the look on his face, then start stripping that stuff down to reveal all the cool stuff. That would be awesome.

Um, dartboard is a must. Put up some wooden framed pics of stuff he likes, a pker tame if he likes that. I know I'm putting one in my room and adding some stuff to go with it, like a nice....cabinet/shelf or something like that so i can have my poker chips in a nice case to sit in along with some selctive liquors with glasses.
