98 ranger: Hard to shift gears

In the last couple of days i have noticed that it is getting harder to shift gears in my 98 ranger 2.5L 5-speed. I am going to change the oil in my trans and rear end and hope thats the problem. I can use any ideas you think of, thx. Andrew
