5 speed thumps when i let off the clutch sometimes

is it normal, it does it when i let out on the clutch. usually does it in 5th gear.

aye, mine does as well, have to shift iin perfect synch with throttle and clutch release.
mines a 96 4x4 ext taco, 170k on the drivetrain.
any ideas folks?

i guess ill just need to grease everything and have my tranny serviced

Try greasing the fittings on the propellor shafts. You might have dry splines.

i will, seems to be ok when its warm out. so i will grease everything up.

Some Tacomas have a problem with rear-end wind-up. Search this forum for discussion.

i've found that my 2000 4cly does it also in 5th gear especially. Yeah, you have to have a perfect shift, real slow and steady, but who does that? Maybe i'll just grease the splines and everything, but i'm not gonna worry about it. I just put a new tranny in a jeep wrangler with 117000 on it, the old one was completelywrecked, gears were gone. I've never heard of anyone having catastrophic tranny failures in a taco, because it's a superior machine.
