There is a button on the shifter. If it will not turn off when you press it then there is a code stored in the tcm.The button is for a more aggressive shift.Carl

Then there is a code.Look under the pass dash for a blue two pin connector and short those tow together. Then turn the key on and count the number of times the s light flashes in a row.I will try to check in tommorow.Carl

First off, seriously start using the search feature...almost every question you have asked gets asked every 3 days...there is plenty of info out there, if you simply use the search feature you will find it quicker and save everyone the time of repeatedly answering the same questions over and over again.
1) the button is for sport shift...a completley useless feature. The idea behind it is that when activated it will prolong the shifts, and get the rpms higher, so when it does shift, it is higher in the powerband...fine in theory, but as these cars aren't exactly power monsters, this feature in reality is pretty much worthless.
2) Is the light flashing, staying on continuously, and will pressing the button on the shifter turn it off? (I'm assuming it wont, but double check)
3) if it stays on or is blinking, there is either a problem with your TCU/TCM (transmission control unit/module) or your VSS (vehicle Speed Sensor) both cause similar problems, but if you do a search for "VSS" "blinking S light" "TCU" AND "TCM" you should find more than enough info to diagnose which it is.
4. Scan the ECU for codes, if you need more detailed instructions on how to do this, again, do a search, as I've posted a link on how to do it plenty of times. The code will tell you if it is the TCM or the VSS. Then start calling the local junkyards and asking around on where to find the necessary part for cheap$$$.
