just got a 98 ford explorer xlt 140,000m not running it was running fine then just shut off. no nocking nothing. now it sounds dead when you try to turn it over it cranks but sounds weak it had oil changes every 3000 with mobil 1 a freind told me these motors are notorious for blowing the timing chains whats the easy way to figure out the problem from the driveway.

my moms 2000 model xlt's timing chain is rattling right now. when she starts it up she has to give it gas in order to run. do you hear the fuel pump kick in when you turn the key over?
