im planning on getting a new car and i want one that will be nice lookin and has some style. well i have a budget of 7500$us. im torn between geting a 96 or new coupe ex or getting a 93 - 95 coupe that will get a b16a swap, rota slipstreams, some sort of lowering, and the usual bolt ons, i h e.
is it worth gettin the newer car and modding it later or would the older car be an alright deal. i still think the fifth gen cars are still pretty cool for how old they are. well im just lookin for opinions thats all so lets hear them
thanks

go with a used car.
my cuzin got a 92 civic si for 2300 and it had 112,000 miles on it.
he had it for 5 months and it is full hooked up.
Suspension, ls/vtec, bodykit, new paint, and rims.
all for under $10,000. (that includes the car)

I got a 99 civic EX and i bought it for 15,500.
I'm still paying for it.
All i got is i/h/e, supension, and a body kit and rims. total is prolly near $19, 000 give or take a grand.
waiting to blow my engine for an engine swap. hehe... :D

With your budget get a used one!!!!!!!!!!

I agree...so many problems with an old car. I have a 93 and the windows are beginning to roll slow. It rattles alot. You would have to deal with rusted, corroded, and sticking bolts/nuts.

If it were me...I would put about 1/3 of that down on like a 96-99. Then put the rest of it in the car......the day you get it!

 I'm green with envy

hey, you said your cousin has an ls/vtec, how is that holding up? how long has he had it? and where'd he get it done? cuz im thinking about doing that, but ive been hearing some bad things. i just want to know of some people who have had it done, are happy with it, and where they got it done. Thanks.

thanks for all your help but is an older car really that bad i know about the whole rust thing i have a 94 hatch si and one wheel well is rustin and i just painted but thats a minnesota winter and teh damn salt. but i love the coupe so im goin with that i dont know why it is just my fav car in the world. i dont know im thinkin about the 5th gen because i plan to use that car as a project for my senior year of high school since i have a class where i can swap an engine and i figure what better way to learn, and maybe ill fix up the rust with some primer hey i dont car if the car looks like complete sh!t just as long as it drives ya know. i just hate havin to make decisions about cars. if i could have it my way id have about four different cars

He got the ls/vtec it at importbuilders.com.
We just ordered it.
So it's not installed yet.
We're gonna put it on ourselves.
we swapped a couple engines before.
Since it is a complete bolt on it should be good.
Imma have fun driving it.
Anyway if the ls/vtec is done right then it should hold up.
