i have a 1993 jgc with 4.o fuel presure is 20-24 when idling and drops upon acceleration and gradually makes it back to same range but no higher. most likely fuel pump. question is can i rebuild the pump instead of buying new one @$200 ++++ ? also want to cut access hole in floorboard instead of dropping tank. truck has 265000 miles on it and hateto dump too much ???? on it thanks for any help

Have not heard of rebuilding a fuel pump in many years.
The floor board idea is interesting though. How big a hole do you need?? What position is the hole needed in??? I know I don't have those answers......

The only thing different is that he runs a inline fuel pump.

That would be a big hole...around 4".
***WARNING: DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!***
you could just put a frame rail pump on it to boost the pressure.

You can buy reconditioned fuel pumps from dealers I think? I wouldn't recommend cutting a hole and dropping it. It would be a tight squeeze trying to slide it in place, like trying to put two hands in a pickle jar.

IF I WERE TO INSTALL AN INLINE PUMP ON DO I NEED TO REMOVVE THE OLD ONE FROM THE PUMP ASSEMBLY? IF SO WHICH PUMP WOULD YOU RECOMEND - BRAND

You would have to use one that matches your flow and pressure requirements. I don't have those specs handy. There really are only a few pump manufacturers. You shouldn't need to remove the old pump as long as it is working (remember, your just boosting pressure). If it dies, you will though.

A wierd soultion:
My Jeep came with a ford fuel pump.
no, it doesn't fit like the original.
it's a real rig job, but the previous owner opted to put it in instead of the expensive replacement.
basically, just mount it (mine is near the airbox), run your fuel lines, and run a wire piggybacked from the appropriate relay lead to the fuel pump, and ground to the chassis.
It's not pretty, but when I found out how much it cost to replace it the "right way", I didn't mind the ugliness nearly as much.
