BlazerLT, I'll address this to you, since you seem to have knowledge of GMC suspension problems, but of course it's open to everyone. I read your answer to the thread "Ball Joints need replacing like Oil". I do my own lube and get all 11, but the idler arm fails repeatedly, this new one was bad right out of the box. I'll take your suggestion and go to MOOG for my suspension parts.

My question is, what constitutes "bad" in an idler arm? As I said, I replaced the ilder then checked by moving the tire left and right. The passinger side tire deflected about 1.5" and the arm moved up and down about .5", the drivers side remained stationary. This dosen't seem right, but its been a common failure. It appears that the chassis end bearing has a lot of slop.
What do you think? Am I getting a bunch of bad parts, I tried several parts houses, or is there something I've missed?
Thanks
94

Yea, sounds like cheap parts.

I too have to replace my idler arm and my pitman arm this spring.

I can lift up that tire and move the tire in and out and see the play in them.

I would go with Moog. If it fails, they replace it for free seeing it has a lifetime warranty.
