High Idle (stupid carbs)

so anyway, i've looked and looked trying to find the idle adjust screw on my carb, i found the high adjust, but i just cant find the low adjust (i'm thinking maybe the carb is sticking) because there's a lever on the drivers side of the carb, that if i push it in, the idle goes down, but as soon as the gas pedal gets pushed, then it goes back to the 2000 RPM's that it's stuck at.. another thing that i found is that the throttle cable was too tight, and i loosened that up, and the idle slowed down a little bit from before, but it's still too high, anyway, this is kinda racking my brain, but it idling at 2G's is making me nuts :) (makes the car sound alot noiser then it should)

anyway, any help would be appreciated (it's an 87 CRX hf if ya are wondering)

:D

Unfortunately, the Honda UK's website (http://www.honda.co.uk/owner/workshopmanuals2.html) (link to master list of workshop manuals) doesn't have the workshop manual for the 87 CRX on-line, only the 86 CRX. But, the section on idle speed adjustment (http://www.honda.co.uk/owner/WorkshopManualCivic84-87/62sb222/12-14.pdf) (link to relevant section) for the 86 CRX might help you sort things out.

just spray down the hole carb with carb cleaner to release off all that gunk and after that...wd40 that S.O.B....if not...that..turn the car on and cover up the carb hole...if the car still runs....then its a vacumme leak...if it dies on you...then start ajusting the carb....

wow, thanks :) it worked... turned out the throttle stop screw wasn't really set, adn the way the throttle was being set was by the cable... STUPID!! but anyway, i loosened up the throttle cable, and set the stop screw, and now it idles wonderfully :) (it wont idle below 1000, or it stalls, but 1100 is good for me) thanks alot franky :)
