97 Explorer High IdleRobobru 02-12-2005, 09:00 PM Noticed that the vehicle idles much to fast after starting, and continues to do so for a couple of minutes. Very dangerous in slippery conditions if you don't wait till it slows down. What is the cause of this? Vacuum leak? I have owned many EFI vehicles and after the first start and idle of 10 secs or so, it goes back to a slow idle regardless of the temperature. Any thoughts? chr97 05-14-2005, 09:23 PM my experience with my 97 is that I had #2 spark plug half out and #3 spark plug had come almost completely out. Another time My throtle positioning sensor went out. My throttle body stuck because it had to be cleaned. I already cleaned the throttle body or the idle control valve, but that didn't seem to do the trick. Want to avoid the costly shop visit. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
