I have a 93 JGC that on my info display I am getting Rear Lamp Failure. I checked my lights and found one half of the 3rd brake light to be out, so I changed the bulb. However I am still getting the message on the display. I checked the side marker lights, the brake lights applied and not applied, the 3rd brake light, license plate lights and the reverse lights and all are working. I thought it would reset after the new bulbs are installed. Is this the case or do I need to do something to reset it.
Oh, one more thing..it only gives the message if I push on the brakes. If I just turn the driving lights on I will get no message until the brakes have been applied. Any thought's?
Thanks!

Did you check the 3 bulbs in the 3rd brake lite?? Some assume that because the whole lens lites up that all the bulbs are ok....

check the License Plate lights (2 lights/bulbs), reverse light (2 bulbs), Brake (all three over again) parking lights.
check at NIGHT, it is easier to see a light not working when it is dark. and have someone hold the brake pedal in while checking. same with REVERSE lights, etc.

Did all of that. I took all of the bulbs out over the weekend and cleaned the connections, but still get the message. All 4 brake lights (2 main and 2 third) parking and braking checked, 2 reverse, 2 signals, 2 side markers and 2 license plate lights all checked out to be working. thx

Did you check the bulb model numbers to make sure they have the correct impedances for your year vehicle's error feedback system?
There are two bulbs that look alike -- and both work -- but the system can only read the one it is set for and will display the error message if it doesn't detect the correct resistance.
Good luck!

I have 920's and the book says 921's, so I'll change those out and report back. Thanks!

My 95 had the same problem. On the screen at the bottom of the dash, the outline of the Jeep had the taillights blinking constantly. It wasnt the lightbulbs. I changed them and the blinking warning still appeared. I brought it tho the dealer and they fixed it. I think it is just a fault it the wire when you change the bulbs or somthing. It means that there is anything wrong with the taillights. but when they are replaced and the warning continues, then its no problem, just an annoying thing to see when you look at the screen.

I had the same problem and took it to he dealer. Apparently, there was something wrong with the wiring that I was unaware of.
