cheapest car that will take the vg?blight 02-11-2005, 09:42 AM Ok here is the deal. I am looking for the cheapest car out there from 1986 up that is rwd and that will take the vg30dett from the latter years of the 300zx twin turbo fairly easily. What car is this? I don't care how big it is or how it looks or anything as long it is cheap as heck to buy and will take this motor swap ( i mean the engine bay is big enough WITH DEFINENCE!). HELP! BP2K2Max 02-11-2005, 10:23 AM why not use the Z body? drdisque 02-11-2005, 11:02 AM the only cars that I know of that will be an easy swap are the Z and the J-30 NISSANSPDR 02-11-2005, 12:42 PM Too bad you said 86 and up...I would have said maybe you could shoe horn it into a 240Z or 510 but they have more space long wise rather the width wise...but if they can fift SBV8's...then I dont see why not the VG30DETT blight 02-11-2005, 02:11 PM hey - why not the nissans- i don't want anything that is going to rust out so badthat is why 86 or so and up. and why not the z i can pic up a rx-7 for cheaper. (like the second gen) And why not the supra same reason for why not the z. I am tryin gto keep away from camaros and firebirds, if you have ever been to car craft then you will see 3/4 of the cars there are ether the bird or the camaro. Why not a mustang? well there are way too many of them around and i can also get the rx-7 for cheaper as it is. I am just seeing if there is anything that i can get for cheaper than the rx-7 is all (that is rwd and will take the vg) (btw the rx-7 can take a v8 so...). So anyone else got any ideas? Broke_as_**** 02-13-2005, 03:29 PM What is it that has set the VG30DETT in stone? Do you have one laying around and are looking for a car to put it in? I'm not trying to demean the VG, I'm rebuilding mine and doing the whole turbo upgrade trip, so obviously I support it. It's a hell of a ****ing motor, completely and utterly underrated. But if you are looking for something unique I suggest you go with a VH45DE, the aluminum block 4.5 liter V8 out of Infiniti Q45. 100lbs lighter than a VG30DETT, dual cams, 32 titanium vavles, forged crank/rods/pistons and some other heavy duty hardware. Makes 340hp even with the Q45s luxury biased tuning. A good intake and exhaust setup should make about 400hp. Add to that some turbos, about 10psi of boost (with the needed anti-detonation precautions), a few other performance upgrades and you should be sitting in the 450rwhp range pretty easy. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=336940 blight 02-13-2005, 10:47 PM What is it that has set the VG30DETT in stone? R35 GTR 07-25-2005, 04:02 PM Have you ever thought of 1986 200sx S12. I currently have on, they're supper light and any vg engine will bolt up. You can even use any 80's 300zx diffs for gearing. I've already contemplated on dropping the VG30DETT in, the downside it would be tight. These cars did come with VG30DE engines. kman10587 07-25-2005, 04:45 PM 1. Please don't revive old threads. 2. The upcoming GT-R has NOTHING to do with the R35 Skyline. N.Senada 07-26-2005, 12:44 AM You might be able to fit it into a z31, but I'm not positive. And yes, you could put it in an '86-'88 200sx, but it's a lot of shifting things around. It can be done, but it all depends on how much money you want to spend. Or you could do what I've often thought about and put it in a 240sx. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
