Gsr swap into a 97' hatch97'hatchgsrwishing 02-11-2005, 09:17 AM Eventually I'm getting a gsr swap for my car from jdm customs for $3150, This comes with a 1 year warranty and free shipping. What do I need to know about the swap? I have a mechanic locally who will swap the engine for $1300. I would do it myself, but I want it done by someone who knows what he's doing. Where do I get mounts? and maybe how much can I get for my dx engine with 120k miles on it. I would appreciate your help. 97'hatchgsrwishing 02-12-2005, 12:33 AM No one has anything to say? maybe I shouldn't post at 3 in the morning.... 95whitehb 02-14-2005, 07:24 PM 1300 is way tooo much to pay for someone to swap in tht engine- i kno of two excellent shops near me who will do it forr 4-800..... do it yourself or look around 4 other shops. is tha swap yer gettin a complete swap??? or just engine/tranny- check out hmotorsonline.com 97'hatchgsrwishing 02-16-2005, 07:22 AM It is a full swap, everything in my engine bay out and everything from a gsr in my car. Ecu hookup, shift linkage hookup, everything hook-up. If you think i can get it installed any cheaper I live within 30 mins of Atlanta. I'd be glad to drive even 200 miles for a cheaper swap. 95whitehb 02-16-2005, 05:39 PM sorry man... i live in WI :( look around for other shops thou, unless u have the 1300. good luck!!! are u gettin USDM or JDM??? civicHBsi91 02-16-2005, 06:13 PM 1300 is a rip off, look around some more. 97'hatchgsrwishing 02-16-2005, 09:37 PM yeah, it's a jdm motor. from jdmcustoms.com it's the best deal i've found yet for a motor with 10-25k miles on it. 1 year warranty and free shipping. It's the motor for me. I'll definately have to look around some more for swapping places. How much is a decent price to pay for and does anyone know a good place in atl? synnista 02-17-2005, 09:16 AM I live in south florida (fort lauderdale) sorry but I dont know any good shops up there in ATL. But if you can get the car down here I am a mechanic and I would gladly do that swap for you for $350.00. That's an incredibly easy swap. Lookin at about 6 hours MAX for that swap. I can get you the stock mounts and stock mount brackets really cheap, used ofcourse, but if you wanna go brand new they're not that expensive. I can also get you the axles you need really cheap if you dont already have them cause you cannot use the civic axles - if you didnt already know that (but i'm pretty sure you did) But let me ask you a question is the GS-R computer that you have OBD1 or OBD2 cause if the computer is OBD1 you're gonna need a wire harness adapter to change the plugs in the car from OBD2 to OBD1 to match up to the computer. Also if the wire harness that came with the motor is also jdm, I'm telling you now you're not going to be able to use it, because it's for a right hand drive car. So if you have any questions or need help with anything feel free to email me at: b16pmpn@hotmail.com or you can give me a call at (954) 775-6933 My name is Bassel. Good Luck!! 97'hatchgsrwishing 02-17-2005, 04:43 PM Thanks a lot. You can seriously do a full b18c1 into my car which current'y has a d15y7? have you done similar swaps? I've been told I dont need new axles... and I'll be getting obd2. And it should work because my friend nick had a sir2 motor that was jdm in his american usdm civic. You know this is a engine and tranny swap which requires specifically made mounts. 95whitehb 02-17-2005, 07:23 PM heck.... man.. i'm sure thers a lotta ppl who'd help u out w/tht swap- its no biggie :) n u'll learn a lot, i'd do it if i wasnt so faaaar away :) good luck again. 97'hatchgsrwishing 02-17-2005, 08:47 PM so if i said I would help a mechanic as much as I could, maybe I could get a cheaper swap and learn a bunch? How much would you pay for a swap? Ill start to look around for another mechanic to do the swap. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
