i have a 1992 dodge dakota v8vauto all of a sudden my overdrive quit working 1 2nd and 3rd are fine it just want switch into overdrive please help

You could either have a bad overdrive solenoid or a broken band; either way it'll require someone who has access to a pressure gauge to see if your tranny's building enough pressure to engage 4th gear.

I would check the solenoids I have seen them come loose its a 25 torx good and snug there is 3 bolts holding the solenoids on. could be a bad solenoid also. was it slipping at all if it just quit one day its got to be the solenoid.

i had the same problem on my 93 dakota it was the soleniod. so i chenge that and i went ahead and rebuilt the trans.
