View Full Version : clutch problem clutch problem s13dr1fter 02-10-2005, 08:57 PM sidewayzS13 02-10-2005, 09:06 PM ka or sr? s13dr1fter 02-10-2005, 09:08 PM sorry its a ka24de D-Bo 02-10-2005, 09:31 PM did you bleed it till the slave cylinder was empty? i think thats a problem nissanfanatic had that took away pressure from the lines s13dr1fter 02-10-2005, 09:35 PM I bled it till the master cylinder was empty. D-Bo 02-10-2005, 09:42 PM i'm not sure which cylinder it was you shouldn't be fully bleeding, or even if its the fact that its not supposed to be fully bled or not.. forget it, i'll wait for someone else to get it right s13dr1fter 02-10-2005, 10:10 PM alright but i believe the cylinder by the tranny is the slave and the master is by the back driver side corner. john.doe 02-10-2005, 10:14 PM ka or sr? Is that relevant? nissanfanatic 02-11-2005, 01:19 AM Yea if you bled it until no more fluid came out, you have to push the piston or whatever back. Use an air compressor and pressurize the line going up to the master cylinder. Then make sure you have new fluid in the resovoir before you begin to bleed it again. BTW, remove that dampener box. Its a big PITA to bleed the system with it on. www.zeroyon.com has a write up. s13dr1fter 02-13-2005, 11:24 PM where is the dampener box? Is it next to the slave cylinder. monooxide 02-13-2005, 11:27 PM I hope i dont have Tranny problems when i swap in my 5Spd...kinda getting me worried... :( s13dr1fter 02-13-2005, 11:30 PM i don't have any problems its just i can't get the damn pressure to build up. i get fluid from the master to the slave bu still no pressure. TatII 02-14-2005, 12:38 AM it shouldn't be that hard to bleed the clutch. i just did it last week when i changed my clutch line. just have your girl friend stomp on it as many times as possible and keep that sucker down, and just losen the bleed screw. and repeat. you have to pump hard and fast though. and always make sure your reservoir is full. when it gets low, air could get in, and you would have to do it all over again. also another thing to note, if your losing pressure slowly, you could have a leak in the line somewhere. i had a worn out rubber line by the fittings. also the rubber line needs to have a small little brass washer that goes between the line and the slave cylinder. without it, it would not seal. also you need some nice ass line wrenchs to tighten it. when i used my cheap line wrenchs, it would lose pressure also, and i saw leaks. i had to go to my work place and borrow a 200 dollar set of line wrenches, and i tightend the shit out of it, now its good. if the rubber line is no good, its only 14 dollars at the dealer. a aftermarket slave cylinder cost 25 bucks ( don't go to autozone cause they're parts number is wrong, they'll give you a slave cylinder that looks nothing like the actual thing ) a aftermarket master cylinder will cost around 40-60 dollars how do i know the prices? i changed all of them ( they all gave out on me at different times ) s13dr1fter 02-14-2005, 12:53 AM well i just bought both of the cylinders and when i step on the pedal it just goes to the floor and stays there. i have to manually bring it back up. TatII 02-14-2005, 01:21 AM yeah, when you first bleed, it expect hte pedal to feel completely dead, and you have to manual use your arm to pump it ( so you can pull the pedal back up ). after like 15-20 pumps, you should feel a faint increase in pressure ( but no where near enough to pop the pedal back up). once you feel that small amount of pressure build up, hold it down, then bleed, and pull the pedal back up,, and keep on repeating till the clutch feels good. s13dr1fter 02-14-2005, 08:24 AM i been doing that for the last couple days now. Would a bad dampener box have anything to do it with? Can i just take it off? TatII 02-14-2005, 11:11 AM the link that nissanfanatic gave you should have something on that. GSR2NR94 02-14-2005, 05:28 PM Yea, and don't forget to keep the master cylinder full while doing that. GSR2NR94 02-14-2005, 05:29 PM opps, a little late for that post. I guess I should have checked for a 2nd page. My bad. nissanfanatic 02-14-2005, 10:39 PM The dampener box just makes bleeding the clutch an all day job. If you like your rubber band clutch feel, leave it. If you like a responsive clutch and easy to bleed clutch lines, remove it.
