Unless the Rx is on its' last legs, I would stick with the Mazda. First, it's lighter, second, it's rear wheel drive (although that could have some downsides), and third, that version of the rotary was probably a little more economical to run than the non turbo stealth. The front wheel drive and heavy curb weight always turned me away from the stealth, even though it is really a decent all rounder for most people. At 18, I'm guessing insurance and overall costs would put a turbo stealth out of the question. If it's in good shape, the car you have is a keeper. And that generation RX was very good looking.

I don't like the Stealth/3000GT much either. 3200 lbs on a FWD sport coupe is ridiculous, and the maintenance costs are pretty high, especially on a car that old.

The Stealth is going to be several years newer then your car. If the Rex is in good shape, you probably should stick with it. If its not, the Stealth is a nice looking ride and runs pretty well for a mid 90s NA.
