Gordon Murray leaving McLaren?MastaKink 02-09-2005, 09:38 PM I saw this on a Grand Prix news site and didn't see anything about it here. Thought I might post it. http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns14190.html Thorst13 02-10-2005, 06:40 AM That stubborn old goat has probably argued his way out of the company or maybe something better lies ahead??? beep...williams...beep...Toyota...uuuuuuu Mclaren240! 02-10-2005, 12:18 PM He has been intervied saying he may leave Mclaren before apprantily he has a new design up his sleve not an F1 type car but some sort of unconventional city car is sounds like havent got a clue what he has in mind but hes supposed to be a fan of smart cars. (you know the plastic very upright looking things) MastaKink 02-10-2005, 02:26 PM As an aside, if you look further down the page, you'll see that Mauro Foghiere (former Ferrari F1 designer) is planning a McLaren F1-style, F1-derived supercar. Personally, since I know Murray is a big motorcycle guy, I'd love to see him dip his toe into that pool. Mclaren240! 02-10-2005, 05:43 PM He is a motercycle fan too and from what ive herd he has considered it but i can recall reading something like "id like to make a bike but agusta do it so well im not planing to" MastaKink 02-10-2005, 08:24 PM You may have seen a newer article, but I've read in several places that he's a Ducati man. I have one F1 article with a sidebar, in which he says, "If I'm not shaking when I get off my Ducati in the morning, I know I haven't done it right!" In fact, it was a motorcycle "feel" (light and lightning quick) Murray wanted to capture in a car. No wonder this guy designed the finest high-performance car ever made. Mclaren240! 02-10-2005, 09:05 PM Sorry my balls up. I stand corrected bikes were never my strong point though i fancy a blackbird or hybussa. Am shore it was Ducati he was talking about. Ne\/eN 02-11-2005, 05:52 PM He's going to work on a mini(?) car to solve traffic problems etc etc.. There are some information here n here: http://www.autofieldguide.com/articles/080201.html http://www.plauener.de/lessing/inf_9798/th989_2.htm (photo scan picture included) - Mclaren240! since u fancy it, its called hayabusa. check it here: http://www.pashnit.com/bikes/hayabusa.htm Mclaren240! 02-12-2005, 05:18 PM Thanks for the link two wheel at 200moh sounds like fun! or fear not shore which.... Even though cannot match it's top speed. Ne\/eN 02-13-2005, 05:12 AM I'm no such a big fan of bikes actually. I really preffer cars...they can stand on their own.. :p Hayabusa is indeed one of the fastest bikes in the world, along honda's blackbird. I couldnt find the turbo clip (burned it on dvd) so here's one that does 0-220mph in about half a minute (!) :grinyes: Here's the clip: http://s2.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3RMJPXSGN06M41BL3779J927RS n'joy F1 monster 02-13-2005, 07:44 AM Id go with any vids of this bike it looks great and is the F1 of the 2 wheeled ferternity dont you think Britten V-twin is the McLaren F1 of the bike world, without question. - One man's vision. - Super exotic in so many ways, you need to read about it. - Very limited production - 10 made total. - Unbelievably fast, shattered many records. - Advanced aerodynamics, construction materials. - Handmade. - First attempt by the company at a roadgoing bike (F1 was McLaren's first attempt at a road car) - Swept the podium in most races in its first year. Blackbird - Lamborghini Huyabusa - Viper Mclaren240! 02-13-2005, 02:37 PM Why not host the turbo vid? That 220 mph vid wont work for me help! Ne\/eN 02-13-2005, 03:02 PM Why not host the turbo vid?
