I own a 99 dakota with a 5.2L. The four wheel drive only works part time. Sometimes shifting from Part-time to full time or 4 low fixes the problem. Sometimes not. It sometimes engages with a bang when the wheels are spinnig. The 4x4 light does come on when 4 wheel is selected. Any one else had this problem?

You should not be engaging 4x4 when the rear wheels are spinning, ever. Plan on breaking something eventually if you do.

let me be more clear: it is all ready in full time 4wheel drive when "it"(it = the transmission) engages. Please post only "usefull information" and or an occurrence of the same nature you have a solution to.
