I realize that this is off topic but you guys seem to be able to figure things out pretty well so, I have recently bought a Kenwood KDC X815 in dash cd player.I hooked it up (I had a jvc cassette player in the metro)and while the sound is 200 times better with the cd's the radio will not recieve unless you are right at a transmitter :banghead: I really like to listen to Bob and Tom in the morning on my way to work,as they make me laugh and keep me from doing bad things:devil: anyway any ideas will be helpful. Also before anyone asks I did pull the whole mess out and check the antenna connection
thanks :bricks1:

I'd say pull the deck out, and try pushing a small piece of wire into the center of the antenna plug on the deck. I work at a kenwood retailer, and all we generally use as an antenna on our demo decks is a small piece of wire about 8 inches long on an antenna plug. This gets perfect FM reception within our steel building. If that allows you to get reception, then you know the problem is in the factory antenna.. either the wire is chafed through and is shorting somewhere, or the core is broken near the plug.

Yep...I was :banghead: until I checked my factory antenna out andsure enought the core was broken. Replaced it eBay style and have great reception now.
