In the market for a Type R...need some helpGovenator 02-06-2005, 03:07 AM Hi i am brand new. I dont own a integra yet but really hope to. Big question the type R stoped in 1999 right? is that just in Japan?states?or canada? I ask because there is a "1999" integra Type R for sale....but i have done my research and no "Type R" was manufactured in that year....did the seller just type in the wrong info on his add or did he just add the decals to make it qualify or pass as a "Type R". Here is the add in Vancouver B.C http://www.buysell.com/showad.asp?id=36824622 your responses would be very helpful...thanks guys Jordan also what should i look for when i go see it...engine wise and other stuff that determines it being a real "Type R" Tano016 02-06-2005, 09:33 AM I live in Canada(Montreal) also. The integra type r was availiable in 97,98,2000,2001. As far as i know there was no integra in Canada for 1999, so i would ask seller about that. Check for the VIN number on the engine, hood, door frame and on the front dash near the front window on the driver's side, make sure they all match. Check the engine code, it should be b18c5 and only b18c5, if its b18c1 its a gsr engine, if its b18c its a jdm type r and i would stay away from that since you dont know the history of the engine. The first 8 characters of the vin number should be as follows JH4DC231, If its anything but that its not a type r, the 10th digit determines the year V-1997, W-1998, 1999-X, 2000-Y, 2001-1. Govenator 02-06-2005, 01:46 PM Thankyou i will check into all that you revealed for me. I hope he just made a mistake on his add. I really want a Type R. There are a few more here but a little more pricey. Thanks again Jordan Govenator 02-07-2005, 05:22 PM allright did the big VIN search.....came up as this, JH4DC2318XS800079....which means from what you told me that it is a type R!!!! but it cant be can it? it still is registered as a 1999 integra Type R!!!! x=stands for 1999 right? ICBC report says its a 1999 and not imported from anywhere. Should i stay away from this....i am geting really confused Jordan kornflakes28546 02-07-2005, 09:16 PM why couldn't it be from the states? it should say where it arrived at the port. mine was shipped into san diego august 2000. it says it on the window price sheet in a new car... i assume it is also connected to the VIN as well. just because it wasn't imported, does that mean it didn't arrive in the states? 96IntegraLS 02-09-2005, 10:29 AM I'm not really sure why it says 1999 but it looks like a type-r to me. I know a lot of people add the type-r spoiler but I would think very few people would go through the trouble of converting it to a 5 lug to get the type-r rims on. I think you have the real deal there. Tano016 02-09-2005, 05:32 PM Was there a 1999 type r in the states. Maybee the honda dealer in Canada didnt have one and had to order it from the states. Also don't forget to check the engine code pikkagtr 02-10-2005, 04:08 AM No there were no ITRs in 1999 they were only sold in 1997-98 in CW and again in 2000 PY and FBP and in 2001 in PY NBP NO 1999 ITRs kornflakes28546 02-10-2005, 12:08 PM okay, check the engine code... and if its a b18c5 its a type-r maybe they got the year mixed up. integrawhat 02-12-2005, 08:04 PM little off subject but y did they skip 99 on itr's is this everywhere or just cananda and if the car has the b18c5, has the five lugs, has the itr lsd tranny, wing, badging, lower suspension, then now it is a type R even if it did start as a rs and if the price is good, jump on it. maybe the guy selling just doesnt know what he has. and if it was converted to an itr they probably would have listed it with all the other mods, the car looks beutiful i dont know what 65k kms translates too or $20k can-us is but it sounds like a good deal maybe he just has to get rid of it but i would hurry if i was you :2cents: SubZeroII 02-14-2005, 08:22 PM Notice there is no side mouldings (common in all type R's). In ontario, there is 1999 ITR's, but no '97's. integrawhat 02-15-2005, 08:23 PM uh my ls/gsr swap doesnt have side moldings either but i still think this car is genuine pikkagtr 02-17-2005, 04:46 AM little off subject but y did they skip 99 on itr's is this everywhere or just cananda and if the car has the b18c5, has the five lugs, has the itr lsd tranny, wing, badging, lower suspension, then now it is a type R even if it did start as a rs and if the price is good, jump on it. maybe the guy selling just doesnt know what he has. and if it was converted to an itr they probably would have listed it with all the other mods, the car looks beutiful i dont know what 65k kms translates too or $20k can-us is but it sounds like a good deal maybe he just has to get rid of it but i would hurry if i was you :2cents: the most important and dont forget it it needs the suspension as well most of the R owners can agree with me that its the twisties that tha R shines and not the drag strip :sunglasse vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
