Master cylinder problems

Is there a gasket between the master cylinder and brake booster?

I'm able to push my brakes all the way to the floor with little to no resistance, my brother says check the master cylinder. So I open the cap and there is very little fluid in it.
I already planned on changing it so I take it off and when I do, I find that it has been leaking on the bottom where it connects to the brake booster and has eaten away at the paint on the booster.
So how do I solve this problem?
Is there supposed to be a gasket in between them and someone forget to put it on there?

Will the master cylinder fit off of a 90' ex? It's a little bigger but looks like it will fit.

No gasket that I know of. You obviously have a leak there though so take it apart and see where its coming from. Heres (http://www.binghamtonlife.com/manual/2gsm/brakes.htm) a bunch of diagrams and stuff that will help you along the way. Dont wait till you have no brake fluid left please :nono:

sounds like you got air in your lines... you need to find your leak if there is one fix it, flush and bleed the system...

if booster where bad,you would have yourself a hard ass pedal. sounds like you have a bad (primary piston) seal in master cylinder. take it a part and see what you got. Fluid leaks past seal and comes out where master cylinder meets booster.

There is supposed to be a gasket between them, it's called a main rod seal gasket or something like that, I got one from Honda (actually Acura for the LS M/C)for like $5

Will it be OK to have no fluid in master cylinder if the car is not running?

I put the master cylinder off an ex on their. Took me forever to get the brake lines attached to it. I haven't bolted it up to the booster yet it's just hanging until I can get the nuts and washers off the ex.(mine fell in the engine bay and disappeared)

And there is a gasket, but it seemed OK.

I won't be bleeding the brakes for another week or two, until I can get the front brakes of the ex, integra rear discs and some brake fluid. Hopefully, it will be fine until then. If it won't please hit me back!

That has to be one of the stupidest things I have ever heard. When it comes to brakes there is no hoping like that, if you had your lines disconnected there is going to be air in you lines and air in the lines can lead to a very serious accident. Take a half hour and a friend and bleed the lines. Why not try the cheapest fix first before you start replacing the master cylinder and all that?

How is it dangerous when my car is on blocks and it doesn't have an engine?

I have a 90' ex for parts and the master cylinder is free.
