Power Steering Problem???

The steering on my 95 Ranger Splash started acting up yesterday, so I jacked it up and if you hold one the wheels you can turn the sterring wheel back and forth and it does not turn the wheels...If you drive it you have to hold the steering about a 1/4 off to keep it going straight....No fluid leaks but feels like air in system possibly....Any help mucho appreciated..

Maybe your tie rod joints are warn. With the truck on the ground have someone turn the steering wheel side to side while you crawl under to look at the tie rod linkages and see if you notice any play between the outer tie rod ends and the steering knuckle. That could be a possibility. Hope this helps.

After checking it out closley today...looks like it is the steering box...

Was wondering if you ever got the steering problem taken care of. Cuz my 92 is showing some sloppy steering itself. Checked the tie rods and they're fine. My brother in law says there's an adjustment in the steering box to fix this problem. Any ideas? Thanks.

Replaced the steering box....is like brand new now...
